Just got a tune w/mods. A little dissapointed...

Finally got my car into a shop to tune and install modds. Tuned was highly recommended and is the only shop in the area with a dyno. Just prior to taking my car in, he told me he just finished tuned another camaro with almost the exact same modds as me (I added meth injection) was getting 425whp in that car.

My baseline dyno was 365whp...

My car was tuned and the results were......400whp and 408tq.. :(

Modds were:

Roto-Fab CAI
Stainless works LTH and retro ZL1 exhaust
Snow stage 3 meth
ZL1 PFADT stage 3 suspension
3.91 gears
Diablo tune on a dynojet at 76 F

The cars sounds and handles soooooo much better now but the numbers were a little below what I was expecting. Are these results typical for what I have in modds?

You say "Diablo tune" do you mean that it was the canned tune from a Diablo handheld tuner?

Yes the handheld tuner. At least that is what I got charged. $400.00 for the unit and $500.00 for the tune.

Ok so the tuner put your car on the dyno and spent a couple hours tuning it?

Seems a bit low, I would have expected closer to 420 -430 range. What kind of dyno was it?

I just dyno'd 373 with my L99 on a mustang dyno which runs about 10% lower then a dynojet plus it was a 90 degree day with major humidity. I expect I am right around 400 on a dynojet on a decent temp day.

My mods:
ARH LT & HF
Corsa cat back
CAI, CAI
Ported TB

That's what he said. Told me it was low because the shop temp was 76 degrees when he was pulling it

IMO something is wrong. I don't think a 76 degree day (really not that terrible) would cost you 20 rwhp.

LOL, guy is a genius business man.

He not only sells you the tune, but the unit itself. Smart guy.

You basically just paid $400 for a glorified code scanner.

Holy crap $900! I won't even tell you what one of the best tuners (Matt from FSP) for these cars charged me. You'd be sick.

76 degrees isn't that hot, most shops during the summer are in the 90's.

What shop was this out of curiosity?

That what thought when he told me the unit cost. He told me each unit was different and each tune required a separate tuner.
