This is from the website:

NOT LEGAL TO SELL OR INSTALL ON VEHICLES REGISTERED IN CALIFORNIA EMISSIONS STATES OR CANADA. GM PROVIDED TUNE WILL NOT WORK IN CARB STATES.
Carb States - AZ, CT, ME, MD, MA, NJ, NM, NY, OR, PA, RI, VT, WA, and DC.

I would like to know exactly what 'WILL NOT WORK' means.

The problem with this world is stupidity.
I'm not saying there should be penalties for stupidity,
but why don't we just take the warning labels off everything and let the problem solve itself.

Locked to VIN I'd imagine more than changes in driveability factors

OK. Another scenario.

I buy the car in Maryland (CARB state) and then move to Virginia (non-CARB state). Then I go to a dealer in VA and have the intake installed and, since it is now legal, have them tune the ECM. What happens? Does it work/install properly?

Even though GM knows my car was shipped to and sold from Maryland, and my VIN is flagged as CARB, how do they know whether or not I am a Virginia resident now? I kind of have a feeling that 'won't work' means that the dealers in CARB states cannot flash the ECM. Either because it is illegal or because GM limits their software. Expert/dealership confirmation or correction of my theory would be GREATLY appreciated.

That would make sense to me.

I just reread the V6 intake thread and it had some CARB mentions in it related to the tune. It may come down to vehicle registration but you're right we need dealer confirmation.

I am very impressed with the smoothness of the process!
When are you doing your dyno run I'd like to see the difference.

Not sure if this has been answered, but is the filter element wet or dry?

I would like to know exactly what 'WILL NOT WORK' means.
I live in Canada and already called the dealer to ask for the CAI; they have it available to order. But since the car has a canadian VIN, does that mean the tune won't work?

Does anyone know when this CAI will be available in California, or for the other CARB states?

It's an oiled filter.

Yea, they are buggin out with those install prices for a 20-30 minute job. I am curious if any CAI's without any other modifications installed to the car has caused any problems other then a CEL if installed wrong ect. that caused them not to cover warranty work. Of course there can be a way to deny the warranty if they can point out its the route of the cause and not dealer installed/GM produced part.
