Attack of the Posers
LOL, wait wait wait..............
I am not calling anybody out on making their LT a SS or their SS a ZL1. I could care less what people do with their money or their car. In my opinion I think the factory makes the cars look to similar anyway. This goes for all the manufactures, bmw, chevy, ford, acura etc. I find my self in traffic always pulling up close to a BMW to see if its a M, or double taking to see if that was a Mustang GT, Shelby or just someone who got the Shelby wheels. The truth is almost everything looks somewhat similar driving by. If you are a car guy you will eventually figure it out. I think its kinda fun to try and figure out what trim level a car is. My wife and I always see the 4th gen Firebird and start guessing. Is that a V6, Trans Am, oh no wait there is the SLP hood its a WS6! I don't know where you draw the line with posing vs just making your car look better. If you look at the muscle cars from the 60s they always traded parts with other trim levels. Its soo hard to find a true 69 SS Camaro b/c they all stole the cowl hood from the Z/28. Same parts just look better PERIOD, and that why people want them. I do find it funny sooo many people did not care about the possibility of the 2013 ZL1 having more HP, but are upset over the replica ZL1 bumper? I mean if your happy with your car what do you care about what the next guy is doing? Any who, it is amazing you can almost build a ZL1 before you can even get real ZL1 pics from Chevy. I am still waiting on the build it tool, and to see what the ZL1 looks like in another color besides red or grey. p.s. while you guys are still trying to figure out what RJT looks like on the ZL1 a replica is going to pull up beside you to show you in person |

People on this site get waaaaaaaaay to wrapped up in what other guys are doing or things that shouldn't be a concern. Why worry if someone wants a ZL1 bumper, why worry if Ford is bragging about more HP...

I'm all for it guys - go for it. It doesn't bother me in the least. In fact if someone could show me what an IOM ZL1 looks like I'd be very happy. I'm still trying to decide on the stripe / hood color.

I really don't have a problem with people buying ZL1 parts for thier earlier model
camaro's. Not every one can afford to spend 60k on a camaro. These cars are a passion for many, with out this kinda passion, camaro5.com would not exist. Enjoy my friends

I think a blind man could tell a GT500 from a GT. They are way different. I also feel the ZL1 pulls off the same thing when comparing it to an SS. Although I never saw one in the flesh.

You hit the nail squarely on the head here, and boiled this subject down to the essential kernel of truth. Those who worry about other people, what they have, what they do, what they say - are NEVER happy. Their only solace is to try and bring others down with them. If you make your own choices and don't worry about what others think, you have a chance to be happy. The trick is to make good choices. For this Camaro guy, ZL1 is an outstanding choice.

As much as you apparently detest those being imitated, perhaps the imitated as much detest imitators. I find those who most defend fakes are themselves the most pretentious. |

You'll never convince a person who values authenticity to validate a poseur, nor apparently convince a poseur of the value of authenticity.
I know which side I'd rather sit on. |

For those who don't like the "posers" what do you think about cloned muscle cars?? Should we stop restoring cars unless they are numbers matching? How about the new muscle cars taking cues from the old ones?? I don't care what people do, just some food for thought

yawwwwn.
Who cares. Car people know the difference non car people don't care anyway. Just looking at a prius does more damage me mentally than seeing a GT or Camaro with parts from other trim level cars. If I was keeping my Z06 I would add the carbon fiber Zr-1 spliter and some things. I just like the carbon fiber not trying to be a poser. A guy with a Zr-1 would probabaly say I was a poser.

Who cares if some1 has a look alike or clone if yours is real its still faster and as far as resale the vin# tells it all. As far as the 2013 having more hp would that not be as simple to remedy as stoping by you dealer buying whatever upgrades are made?
