Does VMAX still exist?
Hello, all! I called the phone number on VMAX'S site. The call dials oddly to what appears to be a cell phone voicemail, during which, I do NOT hear the recipient mention VMAX. I also have emailed them (VMAX) and no response. Anybody know what's going on with VMAX? Do they still exist?
I am looking for a new ported throttle body for my 2012 Camaro 2SS, Automatic Convertible, from a vendor that does a core exchange. Thoughts? Bo White seems fantastic, but I do not think he does core exchanges. So any other thoughts, please, on ported TB vendors who do core exchanges? Also, any thoughts on the current BBK 1789 (95MM) and 1790 (102M)? I've read that BBK fixed the serious issues those units had years ago. Is this true based on anyone's knowledge or recent personal experience? Finally, I have a BBK CAI, Granatelli MAF, Magnaflow shorties, and Solo HF cats and SOLO Mach XC. I may upgrade the the intake manifold, but am NOT decided on that yet, at least for the short run. -- Should I consider the 102MM -- and if I do, will I lose HP and/or torque with the stock intake manifold? -- Or pick the 95MM, because that will yield better performance? Both are the same price, more or less, so assuming no one can recommend a ported TB from a vendor who does core exchanges, what do you guys think I should do -- 95 or 102mm? Or is another brand recommended, aside from BBK? Thank you, all! I look forward to hearing from you. |

Thank you! I saw Katech before, but they do not mention core exchanges and their price is 429.99, which is crazy.

Maybe check with GPI.. they can steer you in the right direction. Not sure bigger is always better.

Thank you. I've seen GPI in my searches. They don't do core exchanges from what I see on their website. While they port your own TB, they take 2 weeks, and we have only 1 car which is used daily. New ported TBs cost $380 there, which is nuts. At that price, it better come with a stripper, lol!
Keep em coming, all! Thank you, again, to those who have responded! |

A throttle body will not give you much HP, but will improve throttle response. I have the BW, and my lights at the drag strip improved with it. Changing the intake manifold is also only around 10 hp.
The best mod for your car that you haven't done is a torque converter.

Bo White FTW and I think he's still around here on occasion. Somebody did have one of his Stage 3 PTB for sale on here not to long ago.
As far as bigger if I understand the "experts" it's really only much of a benefit with FI, or can benefit a little if manifold & air intake is larger to go with it. But don't think it's really much gain without the FI.

I am waiting for his response on whether he'll do a core exchange with me. Fingers crossed.

If your engine is all stock a larger throttle body will not benefit you, may actually be more of an issue. Hang out to see what BO has to say.

We have had great reviews on our CNC ported throttlebody. Like others have said, you will not gain much horsepower from a CNC'd throttlebody. The gain is in throttle response. I chose to use an OEM CNC throttlebody on my track-day 416 build over a 102 for the throttle response.

Bo White still does them and does offer a core exchange I’m pretty sure. You will have better luck contacting him in the newest camaro fest forum. I have a Bo White and wouldn’t trade it for anything else. Nice guy, he is only about 45 minutes from me.
