Air intake chambers/baffles
GM loves to put baffles, dongles, and funky chambers on their air intakes, and from the engine pics I've seen it looks like the LS3/L99 are no exception. Anyone know what the "extra" chambers are on the passenger side of the intake elbow? And it looks like there is a hose running up to one of those chambers, anyone know what that is? The 4th gens had a small hose to feed air to the air pump, but I didn't think GM cars used air pumps anymore.

They're called resonator chambers. They slow down the air intake charge greatly without drastically (but still a little bit) reducing the amount of flow. The goal is to make it to where you can't hear the intake. Its one of those ridiculous things our society likes as a whole - like exhaust you can't hear at idle.
