"Camaro will be a mass-produced car, aimed at younger buyers who DON'T have money to throw around."
That really hurts Dragoneye. I am certainly not anywhere near what you would call a younger buyer....... What the heck, I still want one. I did go look at the interior of some of the Chevy's. You are right, can't wait now to see the camaro. As far as price goes, I want mine loaded!! |

I'm going to try and find a thread that tried to show pricing and show how they are way off. BRB.

From this site.
Build Your 2009 Camaro thread II (Prices Included) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- As many of you saw a few months ago I put together a model and options list for the new Camaro. Since then, different models, engines and content have been mentioned here. So I’ve decided to update this thread. For the prices I started with current Mustang base prices, adjusted to 2009 dollars by adding 2% a year and then added $700 since I believe the Camaro will cost between $500 and $1000 more. Notice how many engines I added From everything I’ve read here and the research I’ve done this should be damn close to what we will see in a few years. Remember this is from two years ago. So, lets play around with this shall we? Don't kill the messenger : )

Wellll.... couple things they have wrong:
XMRadio is damn near impossible not to get, You'll be lucky to get a delete option for no $ back Exactly as the 08 Malibu lists (Can't uncheck it as an option for any trim level) Also from the Malibu "Sunroof, , power, tilt-sliding (CF5) $800.00 " the LS9 is a 6.2L 620hp for the Vette ZR1 - Camaro isn't gonna get it Maybe get the LSA whisch is also 6.2L S/C but 550hp (we can hope) I think we've well established that while the LS3 will have VVT it probably wont do DoD. Thread start date 05-03-2006, 01:32 PM So I think some allowances can be made. But 5 pages in they are still arguing about how the LS9 can't be the LS7 replacement because though the LS9 is a 6L S/C the LS7 is a 7L (Someone actually bolded that statement) Never mind the fact that its a 6.2L and it isn't actually replacing the LS7 the LS9 will be the enging in the ZR1 not the standard Vettes. |

damn I hope that z28 pricing is not right because I'm not paying 38k for my camaro. 30-32k optioned out just right sounds just right. that should leave me with 5k left over for parts and upgrades. why pay 10k more for a supercharger when you can get the same power out of just a few grand of upgrades.

I've built a Mustang over on Ford's website and it usually comes to around $34,000 for what I'd want. Considering the Camaro will be a little more than the Mustang I'm assuming it will be around $35,000 for a very well optioned base V8. |

I've done the same thing at the Ford website. Give GM even more room and maybe it's 36000. I'll do that Mustang had a choice for the 2005 platform remake. And they said - let's do it cheap and put a solid rear axle in it. Then they said, but with the new design we won't even be able to put independant rear suspension in on high end Cobra models like the previous generation. Oh well, do it cheap. Now they are reskinning the Mustang, but no major platform changes. It's your choice: Cheap - or basics of automotive design in the 21st century - Independant Rear Suspension! |

I'd be willing to pay mid-30's for my V8, lesser optioned, non "killer" version. I dont care what badges it has.
However, considering 4th gen, the SS sure did have better specs than the Z28. Given this, the "SS" badge is WAY over-used. Why not just give us a V8 Camaro without special badging first, then give us the "Z28" later? Thats what I would like to see. Z28=Camaro performance. SS = (in modern terms) a badge put on a vehicle that has nothing special about it (disregarding 4th gen, of course). I'm still WAY too confused over this. and THAT's a shame, because way too many will be also. I guess it boils down to: if the "killer car" has something like a "ZL-2" badge, would we all revolt, or would we just buy it, and use the aftermarket to make it a "retro-mod" as we see fit? Thats a tough question. Seriously. I would have to weigh nostalgia and history over "now." Thoughts? Is the badge on the "killer" a deal breaker? Not for me, unless they call it the "X8BSED-4" LOL.

Wow, "if" the priceing is in the neighborhood, my SS would be coming in around $28,995 to $30,000+/-. So I'm gonna play it a little safe here and add $2,000. to it. Roughly $32k I could live with that
