1le Refurbished Replacement Rim

Hey All,

Hope you springs are off to a good start!

Quick question, I took my 2014 1le in to get new tires, and the shop unfortunately damaged one of the rims.

They ordered a refurbished OEM rim to replace it but the color is slightly off. It is really close, but the finish has more of silver to the finish, while the OEM ones seem to be closer to a matte black.

The color is close enough that you can't see it in photographs but it is noticeable depending on the light.

From what I can see there is only one part number for the rims (22798741).

The shop is trying really hard to get an exact match, does anyone know by chance if these were offered in more than one shade over the years?

Thanks!

More than likely it is just a difference in color from your 7 year old rims and a refurbished rim coating.

That's kind of what we were thinking, but I took it to my local Chevy collision center and had them take a look. They also felt it was different shade and they said they have this happen before with refurbished units.

While the other rims are 7 years old the car it not a DD, and is stored roughly 6 months out of the year. (I get there will still be age related changes, just wanted to note the rims are a young 7)

I would take all 5 in and have them powder coated, that way 1 can be the spare

Thanks vinman.

Can you powdercoat forged rims? I read it can make them brittle and cause them to fail at load.

So good news, they ordered an OEM rim and it was an exact match.

FWIW if you are order a full set the refurbished rims are a good deal and close enough to factory you can only tell when they are side by side.

Where did they order OeM refurbs from? Mine is currently in on accident claim and they are saying they can’t find any of the 11” rears
