How do you open the door when the battery's dead?
So I noticed at the dealership (haven't got mine delivered yet) that the window winds down automatically when you open the door to allow the window to slip under the seal. So then how do you open the door if the battery is dead?

there are instructions in the manual...I believe it says that you have to push in on the top of the glass while pulling open the door

Thanks. While we're on the subject - one of the main causes of dead batteries is accidentally leaving the interior lights on. I installed ultra-bright LED lights for the interior lights and one time I accidentally left my interior lights on for two days and the battery was still fine!

The car shuts down anything left on after 15 minutes as a precaution to prevent the battery from dying, its a great feature if you ever leave your headlights on your an interior light on

Wow... I am finding out new things about this car everyday... I also noticed that if you have your turn signal on for too long while driving, it warns you that your signal light is on... pretty nifty lil feature.

Many GM cars have had that feature for years, My buddy's 2005 Colorado has it as well as my 2007 HHR.

Truthfully 99% of peoples' questions on how their car operates is in the owner's manual.. I guess it just takes too much effort to read ...

Better question.
What to do if battery's dead and getting in the trunk ? Since the battery is in the trunk. There is no key lock for the trunk. You'd have to get in the car, put the back seat down, pull the child lock handle to open the trunk. Second option. Call your friendly GM dealer for roadside assistance. |

If the car still won't start because of a completely dead battery that won't accept a charge, you can still open the trunk with the remote: if you have the car jumped to another battery, that battery will provide at least enough current to operate the electrical in your car that do not require the alternator. You can then pop the trunk and replace the battery (of course be sure to remove the jumpers before you remove the battery). |

Just thought I'd mention this from my own experience with indexing windows. Anyone that will be driving their car in the winter be careful on cold icy days because the ice build up along the bottom window edge will cause the window not to index.
I've learned to let the car warm up as much as possible (remote start) and also trying to knock away most of the ice before opening the door
