GM'S new Alpha Platform under difficulties!!
http://www.gminsidenews.com/forums/f...dreams-103001/
This articles tells about the many difficulties that GM is currently facing with the new Alpha program that will under pin the new Cadillac ATS & CTS line as well as our new 6th Generation Camaros! They are saying they are having trouble keeping the weight down on the vehicles. As we all know we cant have a large Camaro again like we have right now to remain competitive from a performance stand point so hopefully they will get lighter weight put into the vehicle as thats the only advantage Mustang currently has on the 5th Gen Camaro.

Interesting article. If the Alpha program really does shed 500 pounds, the platform will be a hit. If the sixth gen Camaro were somewhere around the 3400-3500 range, GM would be moving in the right direction at least. Hope it all works out and they don't end up making 4000 pound plus cars.

Sorry but just adding more power isn't going to cut it. If it was then the SS would be able to beat the new GT 5.0's right now. I cant wait for the comparison tests between the new 12 ZL1 and the 12 Shelby GT500. The ZL1 is going to be awesome but it could be a prime example that just adding power wont work against a smaller lighter vehicle too.

Let me assure everyone that neither of those gentlemen were in any of our planning meetings. Much ado about nothing. Every program has its challenges, but this article is just way off...........
