2nd SS - you have one sweet ride there. I love everything you've done - the badging, the wheels, the color. A beauty.

My car will be 10 years old in October. It has 38,000 miles and after the paint correction yesterday it looks brand new. It hasn't given me any trouble, so hopefully I'll get another 38k event free.

Agreed.
Those wheels make a big difference. I love the offset on them. Nice beefy stance.

Pricing for paint correction and the Ceramic coating is relative to the condition and size of the vehicle, as most of the work is in the prep. There is also different levels of Ceramic coating. The more coats, the higher the price. Having said that, my car was $500.
My car was in pretty good condition since it's a garage queen. They mainly had to deal with swirls in the paint and fixed a couple of scratches. Also, I have the clear bra PPF on the entire front clip, entire hood and Gill area, so that did not have to be touched. Less area, less prep work. As for the Ceramic coating, I only had them put on one coat, which has a two year warranty. With my car being a garage queen, the detailer said my coating would last a lot longer than the 2 years. The bottom line is, find a reputable detailer and get a quote, as there are too many variables to think they are all the same.

o2 sensor fun
To start my birthday was on Thursday...driving the lady home from work and it does what all I can describe is a burp!! RPM's dropped momentarily then went back to about normal. Stopped for fuel restarted and had a check engine light now on. I had dinner with the wife and kids and wondered about what happened. Got up early for work attached the scanner and came up with the P0050 code for a bad o2 sensor. Fast forward to today got my head under the hood and OMG the wire leading to the sensor on the driver side is schredded. Looking at it the wire was long enough to make it to the steering which tore it up, nice move GM! I had already ordered the replacement sensor and was ok. I got some advice from a person in this forum about getting it loose before the new one arrive to save some time.
Here is where the story means something, bought a o2 sensor socket and proceeded to remove and snapped the socket with the sensor not moving. I went to return the socket (life time warranty) and an older gentleman wearing a Vietnam verterans hat is in front of me in line. He sees the broken socket in my hand and asks what is going on. I told him the story (long line) and he laughs. "Son" he says did you heat the car before trying to remove it? No I replied he said try it, it will come out like a hot knife through butter. I thank him for his service and come home. Let the car run for 5 minutes and the damn thing comes out easy as pie. By the way I thanked him for his service twice and he said it was his honor!! I told him my father was a veteran of D-Day. He thanked me for my father's deeds. Our veterans are a precious resource and national treasures. I have a new friend and I believe my father would be smiling at getting the car fixed and respecting a man's man. |

Worked on getting my car ready for a dyno-tune a week from Monday. I replaced the spark plugs, performed a compression test (190 highest, 175 lowest) and checked resistance of the spark plug wires. 7 of them were between 220 -290 ohms. One of them is 620 ohms. Taylor 409 wires should be 350 ohms per foot, so I have a bad wire. For now I have it in an easy to get to location so it will be quick to change out later. Last thing I did was change the engine oil and filter.
My car has never been on a dyno before, so I am excited to see what kind of HP it will produce.
