speaking about the 5.0, i hear the new Ranger/F100 is supposed to have it as a top trim option or the 3.7 ecoboost and 3.5 NA v6... along with a long due 6 speed manual/auto

The same could be said for the Camaro. To me it's the worst part of the car. To each their own. Hence why we are lucky to have different options.

There is no HP rating out for the 2011 GT500 yet. However, the car could be up to 200 pounds lighter because of the aluminum block and EPS. It's going to take a SS with a blower to even come close.

GT500 is a nice car, but just not worth the $. At nearly 50gs when you are done that is corvette territory. With guys running 11.8-11.9 in STOCK 2009 vettes that cost less then 50k I just don't get it.

I know 1/4 mile isn't everything and yes the stang has a trunk and back seat, but the vette will take out that GT500 is every category as far as performance in concerned. Personal taste and styling comes into purchase for everyone, but in my eyes for $45k ill take a 3LT Vette anyday over the GT500

Come on have a thicker skin. The poster was expressing his opinion and I gave mine. I just get tired of some of these guys talking about the rear of the car when it's the weakest part of the Camaro as well.

X 100

At least it is still another form of American muscle.... I am not a ford guy at all but we all must admit that if it wasn't for the mustang the camaro would not be what it is today, and with out the camaro the mustang would not be what it is going to be.

Different cars for different drivers. I realize some people cross shop the GT500 and Vette. What will you say when the Z28 hits around the same price range?

Well we will have to see what it does first. But I would still go with the vette given the equal performance of the GT500 and the Z28. The argument doesn't change.

And guys are GIVING away their barely used Z06's right now. I surf the vette forum and there are 2007/2008 Z06's with under 20k miles selling for 40k.

If the Z28 somehow can trump the standard vette then I would maybe go for that but with used Z06's going for so cheap that seems to be the best buy

My biggest hurdle isn't the money or choosing the right car, it is getting my wife to agree to letting me buy one

Oh I know. I hooked my buddy up with a 06 Z06 with 62 miles for $44k. Just sat in a friend of a friends garage. Makes an awesome car even better. I was going to buy it but didn't want to risk having a car like that out of warranty from the start.

I have nothing against fast cars and this vs that. But to me anything that playing the 40-50k price tag range needs to beat a vette. Otherwise a vette should be the car of choice if you want ult bang for the buck performance. Of COURSE this is my opinion. But to me that is why they make camaros and mustangs, to be a cheaper alternative for the not so rich.

The issue is everything is freakin fast now. My 2005 Legacy GT was had for 25k new. 250 HP and ran 0-60 in 5.9 for a family sedan. Well me being me and working part time in the aftermarket performance tuning business I got it up to 320 WHP or 400 HP crank.

It was running 12.8 with an Auto Trans for about 2grand in upgrades. For a 4 cyl car sedan lol

So realistically it is tougher then ever to keep making these cars WORTH the 20-30k premium for 2 tenths of a second in the 0-60 or Qtr. You have Cobalt SS's cracking into the 12's for 20 grand

THere are people, like me, who really don't care much for Vettes (well, anything made since the C4). I would easily take the GT500 myself. In any case, it's money, your choice, whatever makes YOU happy.
