Z/28 listed in '16 GM Powertrain Info

Just had to put this out there for discussion since it was listed in the 2016 GM Powertrain PDF and was shown to be Z/28 with LS7 drivetrain. It could be a cut and paste typo by GM or not.

Here's the link and screen shot I took.

Could they possibly put the LS7 in the alpha chassis?

On Instagram, Chevy has been posting a lot of z28 pics with captions like, the Z28 awaits: or More Z28. So they may be hinting of aZ28 coming.

Probably a misprint or they meant 2015 model year.

Maybe they'll carry the 5th gen body style over in Z/28 trim for 2016 like they carried the CTS-V over for 2014-15.

5th gen Z/28 production ended a while ago though.

That's good, because I don't like how they carry over previous gen models into new year on some models.

I would be a bit disappointed if the next camaro they release doesn't have the LT4. We know the LT4 and A8 does fit the alpha platform (ctsv) and m6 instead of m7. I know they will announce the next camaro first quarter of 2016. That was straight out of AO mouth lol. "Future is extremely bright for the camaro". I cannot wait to see what they can do!

Hmm, if we're talking about a 6th gen Z/28 variant, I'd rather have the N/A LS7 even though I think we're all fairly sure it wont happen. Keep the LT4 in the ZL1.

I'd be willing to bet alot of money that a gen6 LS7 Z/28 could out pace a GT350R/voodoo around any track. While it would be down 20hp, it still has a 50 lb.-ft. torque advantage. Also, the car (being on the alpha platform) should come in at least 100 lbs lighter than the GT350R, if not more.

As long as LT4 is available for the gen6 camaro, I am fine with that lol.

+1, on a track I would prefer the powerband of a naturally aspirated engine...

The LS7 could easily gain power over the current numbers with GM simply changing the cam, or changing to a different intake...but like you said, the Camaro would weigh less, and have more torque...so it would easily best the GT350.

With the gen6 so much lighter, they would not need to do much to the ls7 to beat the gen 5 z28. Heck it's only 20hp less then the gt350. I think they could easily match the hp in the gt350. And with the Alpha platform should do real well against it.
