I also noticed someone talking about voiding out the warranty. Technically the warranty can not be voided out I heard until something happens to the car and they can pin point it to the performance upgrades. In all honesty people with the ss that do performance upgrades will be voiding out there warranty too.
The thing is, you are talking around .9 second difference in the quarter mile. the story is more than HP, the Mustang is lighter, the Mustang has more toque, the Mustangs life axle is a far superior tool for launching in the quarter mile going by the old adage that .1 in the 1/4 reqires 10 horsepower, he V6 would need 90 HP. That is going to take some modifications. You may realistically pick up 50 HP with a low pressure low boost FI setup the stock parts could survive. Take the new SRX, it's 3.0 DI V6 makes 265 HP, but the turbo is only 35hp more stout, though I would guess the torque increase is a bit more substantial, though I am sure the modifiactions were more than just slapping a turbo on the na engine/drivetrain. IMHO, a factory pakage with upgraded internals and roots style SC (torque!) would be an interesting package. And being factory it would already be beefed and could no doubt handle more HP. My old GTP 1/4 mile by nearly 1.5 seconds with just a smaller pulley, PCM, cold air and exhaust, can't bet the modability of a factory FI setup, though I have totally went off tangent and I apologize.

I think the ZR1 prefers Italian or German. Mustang to him is just a snack...

I am not saying the V6 is a bad car, it isn't, far from it, but if you are going to start slapping FI and juice on an engine and transmission and driveline parts not built for it, that can cause major issues.
afak, ls1s, their trannies, and what not were not built for spray either but as long as you're not spraying off the line with slicks a stock ls1 will be perfectly fine with a 150shot and in awesome tune cases a 200shot of spray. It is all in the tune and about doing it right. Just like the limitations on spray, a turbo setup will need to be used at the right boost levels to prevent problems. The more pressure and boost, the harder it is on the vehicle. I say the v6 could handle some mods simply because it is newer and improved (mainly the improved part), technology.

I bet you could run a 50shot of spray, and about 100hp out of a turbo and you'd be in good shape. ls1s bone stock recommended boost levels are like 5 or 6psi. I bet the 6 could take the same levels.

But the same boost just isn't going to provide he same increase in HP as in a LS1 or LS3 V8, realistically, with the boost levels it could handle, my uneducated guess would be a gain of maybe 50 HP, and then a 50 shot of juice, should be enough to take the GT, unless the bottle is empty or turned off...... Still wouldn't take an SS though.
