He's saying the 5.4 doesn't need fully forged internals.

With a couple of simple mods (pulley's, exhaust, intake, tune) Both the cobra and gt500 are looking at 100 plus whp. I agree with some bigger motors respond better to certain bolt ons, but you can't generalize that all do. Look at the 4.0 mustang, the new camaro v6 responds better to bolt on's then that does, and it has .4 less liters.

Edit: meant terminator not cobra

all im saying- ive got a 600+ RWHP truck, it runs 11s on 24" wheels... it gets 19 mpg @ 75 mph. IMO its very impressive and a good example of the blank canvas of an already impressive 400 hp package that is the LS. BUT i have a 2.0 liter cobalt ss i paid less than $20k for brand new, spent $600 and it runs high 12s. gets over 32 mpg on the highway, high 20s in the city. thats all im saying, no insult to the LSx here
Ok, get all that but one thing you guys fail to mention and see as factors in the other cars you are mentioning are weight and areo. We all know 911s are very light and areo and Evos are light and AWD which is a big help and minis I mean come on that says it all. Fact remains put the big engine in these small cars and keep everything the same and they will be even faster. The Vettes prove that so all your examples pretty much fall by the wayside.

I know what you're saying, but not exactly true. The cobalt ss stock ran high 13s, and that had a lot to do with all of its weight aero, etc, everything including the stock power. But since he only did power mods, it doesn't really come down to weight so much as the mods used to up the power to get down the track faster, because the weight and everything else was stock.

And after all of this, now that we know that the Mustang will be on a even playing field finally, the argument goes to liter's of the engine and who can get the most out a All OUT build ?? Are you kidding ?

Lets keep it real. Raise your hand if your buying a BRAND NEW car, BLOWING THE WAARANTY up with a HOWITZER, by ripping out the engine, and doing a fully built right down to the custom cams and pistons engine build.

I'll wait while we get all the candidates together.

In the meantime, the most anyone will do is basic bolt-ons. Some will go the next step and FI. Very few and I mean very few will go beyond that. Lets keep this realistic.

hmm.. lets see, 911 GT2 (997) curb weight is 3200 lbs.... whats a Z06 LS7 weigh again?

oh yeah, 3180 lbs....

EDIT: i forgot, the GT2 is RWD. and i forgot, the C6 is one of the most aerodynamic (not over $100k) cars period.

No, but my wife had one try (and fail) to flyby her and cut her off in traffic. She said it was like it was moving in slow motion.

250hp in a 4,000 pound car is not a good equation.

Your saying thing I'm saying. The weight and aero helps the Cobalt really well. Think if that cobalt had the 6.2 in it and everything else stayed the same? That damn car would run low 11s stock. And adding power with everything else staying the same would help you go faster thats the point, usually what little weight gained by adding power will still oversee the weight issuse since the power would be great.

What I'm trying to say is bringing in a 911 turbo and other cars that use smaller engines and go faster shouldn't be looked at here when comparing to similar cars. Because we all know the 911 and other cars that are power by those smaller engines has way more to do with the design of the overall car and parts used then just the size of the engine.

lol
Which is my point exactly. The fact that he can get those numbers is fantastic. But he wouldn't get them if he was driving the car in the way that would rationalize HAVING the 4.10 gears.

What does putting a 6.2 in a cobalt SS or an all out motor build have to do with the thread title.

Oh yeah, this is Camaro5.

For the record, I was one of those people.
I wouldn't have bought the GTO for appearance either..
Past year's mustang rear ends looked alot better than than the '10 does now(rear bumper sticks out like 6" now?). I do like the hood/front appearance. The rear look was deal breaker for me(v6 model too). If you like it, go for it/your moola. It's not all about performance. many people like the challengers, just can't get past the cost(doesn't matter model).
