Fuel line won't disconnect w/ 3/8" tool, any tips?

I can't get the fuel line disconnected above the intake manifold. I'm using the blue 3/8" disconnect tool from Advance Auto. Rail is drained no fuel.

I push the lines together hard, push the tool in, pull the line... nothing, still hung up on the flare. Any hints? Should I be pushing the tool in harder while pulling on the line? Feels like the tool just pushes in and bottoms out, then pulling on the line - nothing is releasing?

Thanks for any hints!

let your car run out of gas before trying to remove your fuel line. pull the fuse to your fuel pump. Located on the passenger side of the trunk.

Too dissassembled to run the motor now. I've pushed in the schrader valve several times while pushing on the fuel line, doesn't seem like any more fuel is going to come out.

Not sure what to say. I removed mine. It was pretty simple. I started my car, then pulled the fuse. The line came right off once the engine ran out of gas. Id say try that. Then see if it will come off.

I'm thinking the line is still under pressure. If you did manage to get if off, fuel would shoot out everywhere. Be 100% sure the line has no pressure and the no fuel.

There is no fuel pressure, I've pushed the schrader in for a while and it drained fine. Not possible to start it now, motor too stripped down. I don't think fuel is the problem, maybe the tool isn't thick enough, I may try to wrap some tape around it or find a different one.

Tried a few wraps of tape around the plastic tool, no luck. Also tried the other end of the fuel line, exact same thing there - the tool won't disconnect it.

Any other ideas, any auto parts stores sell a little different tool maybe?

Mine were a real pain in the ass to. Try to twist a little when you're squeezing them together.

Pull harder, and twist. It is not easy but there is no need to do any more than that.

Finally got it! The stupid tool from Advance Auto must be too thin. Grabbed a Lisle brand tool from Oreilly and it came right off. I can tell it looks thicker.

Lisle 39420 - 3/8" Angled Fuel Line Disconnect if anyone ever needs one that works.

It does not matter if there is fuel pressure in the line, it will still release. Before inserting the tool push the fuel line in hard toward the installed position, then insert the tool making sure it seats in 360 degrees. Then pull it off. I have found that the plastic tools work better than the metal ones.

Here's the tools - the one on the left is the Lisle brand tool that worked great. Popped the line right off. The POS on the right, made in China, was never going to get the line off.

I didn't even use a tool. Just cut a piece of plasic oil jug about 1" rectangle and pushed in. Popped right off. I always use this method. It works great.
