It may be as simple as a defective module/fuse. for sure its part of the electrical system.
Same thing happened to my 2002 trailblazer when it was 2 years old. That was a first year car also. It turned out to be a wire was rubbing up against something to the point it rubbed the insulation off and shorted out. Would not start , could not get keys out of ignition. They towed it to the dealership , wires got rerouted and replaced. Cars been running trouble free for another 5 years. I forgot where but there’s a site that shows problems/issues with cars by year , almost every car out there the first two years are the most problematic.

I feel your pain and hope it is resloved rather quickly for you.

Please keep us informed.
This is why I just want a normal freaking key. I hav ensurance covering theft.

I don't know about laughing but it will be a simple fix. I would bet the car will be finished today unless they have to order a part. Which actually is likely.

IMO, sounds like a short, would explain the hot battery, shutting the system down. Let us know..:(

This happened on one of our Toyota's. Threw a timing belt. It worked fine after $1200 fix. Out of warranty of course.

I hope it's just a simple fix. Good luck!

Yeah keep us all informed. If it is a problem with the key communicating with the car, then be glad it happened in an area that didn't cause a big accident..

^^^^This^^^^

From the OP is would appear the car lost all power... my best guess is it's something simple. Same thing happened in my Evo couple years back... hit a bump, the o2 sensor wires went to ground somehow and took out the main fuse. Hasn't happened since. Also possible that during the PDI they didn't secure the tire inflator and it shorted the battery... point is we have no idea what happened or what caused it... so no need to worry... yet.

Hope it's something simple, after ordering 10/08 you've certainly waited long enough for it!

When I bought my Z28 new in '96, I was so happy. Got it home and the interior lights would not go off. Had to pull the fuse and it was in the shop the next morning. The first month of ownership I was driving rental cars more often than my new Camaro.
