I am trying to install the Dash ABL from gen5diy.com, but i can't figure this out. I don't know how to fit the light piece in between the plastic piece and the dash while still keeping the plastic piece flush with the dash. It stick out too much and the light shines through the crack and looks terrible. here's a video describing my issue better.

You need to use adhesive weatherstripping to get the light pipe to be held up on the backside of the panel so it won't be pinched in between the dash and the panel. Do you have some adhesive weatherstripping? The kit should have come with it.

Yeah I have that. Do I connect The weather stripping to the black part of the dash or to the white plastic part?

Connect the weather stripping to the white plastic part. make sure you position it so that it holds the light pipe higher up on the plastic piece.

Back of the dash, all you do is hold the pipe up so its = to the top then set the weather stripping under the pipe.

All the weather stripping does for me is create a bigger gap. i put some on the side to block the light coming from the gap but i know i'm still doing it wrong.

The applique piece should have a gap at the top of about 2mm.
The weatherstripping holds the light pipe up, and helps hold the applique away from the dash to allow the light to shine through.
If you are using rigid light pipe you will probably need to heat it up and bend it to make the applique fit better.
And dip the end of the light pipe in plasti-dip, touch up paint or even nail polish. That will stop the light from shining through the end of the panel.
