Well I had ordered a new filter a couple days before seeing this, oddly enough, because the car is 4.5 years old and has 52k miles on it. I expected it to be really bad, but it was not that bad at all. The OEM is a carbon filter and will not be bright white like the cheaper filters you get like a wix, fram, stp, etc.

Doing it today. PalmerGa: Thanks for the video- piece of cake.

Follow up: I go to my local Chevy dealer Monday for the cabin filter. They had them in stock @ $45.00 retail. $33.88 discounted- No thanks !
Went on line and after a short search I found them at $10.00, no shipping, no tax. Not AC/Delco but I don't care.
Just received it- Only 2 days from www.filterheads.com Their part #AQ1150.
I'll put it in tomorrow and let you know how it goes..
They are now $24.50.I got an actual AC-Delco from Amazon for the same.

Thanks for the links to the aftermarket filters. Dealer wanted over $40 for the filter and another $40 to install. Replaced mine for about $15 and took about 5 minutes.

Thanks for the website. Ordered one for the Camaro and they had a 3-pack for the minivan at $11 ea. Added bonus that I don't have to darken the door of the auto parts store.

LOL... I changed mine a few weeks ago and it was nasty... I sprayed an anti bacterial air freshener and put the fan on for a minute, then put the new one back in.

Received my order quickly via 2 day USPS. Just an FYI (and I don't know where the OE is made), these are El Cheapo Chinese filters. Maybe they will work just fine but man, they are the flimsiest filters I've ever seen.

Filter is a good place to look if you are getting funky smells in the car, even worse in damp climates. I've seen (and smelled) some filters that would curl your toes.

Not always, most of the time ac-delco is a gm approved replacement part (cheaper). Most OEM (GM) cabin filters will be a carbon style which is why there more expensive.
