2lt/RS vs. 2SS/RS
So, what makes more sense buying a 2LT/RS 300 HP 86 Oct V6 w/ 27 mpg in the mid 20's or a 2SS/RS 422HP 93 Oct V8 w/**mpg in the mid 30's? I'm set to order a 2SS/RS, but am wondering if it's worth it. What do you guys think? Is there really that much difference?

Obviously it makes more SENSE to get the V6, better fuel economy, less harmful emissions etc...
The V8 is for people who want to go fast : ) It just depends on what kind of person you are. The difference in performance will be huge and in no way close. If you want power, get the V8, if it's not important to you, get the V6. oh and btw I think it's high-twenties not mid-twenties for a 2lt RS |

I'm confused. of course there would be a huge difference in performance. In comparison it's like asking if an SS cobalt is really that much better than the LT. the LT is fun..holds your interest. but the SS would knock your teeth out in comparison. If ever I can afford it (few years down the road) I'll go for the V6 version (just cuz 300 HP is enough for city) and to get good gas mileage is cool I don't wanna spend my paycheck on gas. As irresponsible as it sounds, the V6 will most likely beat most any other car on a light to light. - that's good enough for me. + style (see sig pic) +, if you're not buying for speed, buy for style. (V6 + options out the wazoo)

300HP vs 422HP. Big difference. Not to mention the suspension differences. But that really depends on what you are getting this car for, your driving abilities, cost of insurance, etc. Can you provide some more details?

You comparing gas mileage? Or performance?
Performance wise the SS is going to feel like a whole different car vs the LT. I'm a little confused about your mileage #'s though. Are you saying that the SS will get mid 30's???

Oh ok.... If you don't get GMS pricing, although none of us may be when the Camaro first gets released... Then a fully loaded 2LT RS is going to run you 28-29k. If you want performance, spend the extra 5k+ and get the Camaro 2SS. If you don't then get the 2LT...

I was in the same boat, but finally decided that I would have this car for a long time so I will spend the extra money on it.

Test drive the G8 GT Very SIMILAR comparison, although the Camaro DI V6 is better than the G8 V6. The difference, is TORQUE. This guy has the LS3... EDIT: I forgot to mention, the V6 in the maro is better than G8, AND the V8 in maro is up 40 - 60hp too, over the G8 GT. Yum.

I admit this question has at least crossed my mind...stricly looking at my monthly payment even with $10k down it would be nice to have the 2LT, but that's not why I decided on this car. This car will be my 21st car and I've decided I'm going to keep one for a while so I better like it.

Garage it if you can. Polish it, love it, they are something you'll want to keep.
Think Rush's "Red Barchetta": Down in his barn My uncle preserved for me, an old machine --- For fifty-odd years To keep it as new has been his dearest dream I strip away the old debris, that hides a shining car A brilliant red (Camaro), from a better, vanished time I fire up the willing engine, responding with a roar Tires spitting gravel, I commit my weekly crime...
