Best Street-race tire behind my PC P1X

Hey, hopefully I’m asking this in the correct forum. Being Forced induction-hi hp, I believe But, here it goes,…

After Going “Forced Induction” (PC), I am trying to find the best performance tire for street. 2nd gear 30 mph no traction (in both traction control & performance mode)- 3rd gear 4K RPM fuel pedal “slammed” (excessive wheel spin/ no traction). The performance I’m looking for:

1- sensational hook during warm weather (cool weather as well but, can’t imagine).
2- tread life will last at least 10k miles. (W/ occasional spirited operation)
3- will handle conservative wet weather conditions.
4- not excessive road noise.

This Camaro is driven mainly during warm climate, rarely driven in wet climates and never during the winter months (NJ). I have reviewed a great number of driver reports-and have spoken to a multitude of racers first hand providing me with their experiences. I have to say in comparison to tire reports and chatting with others, tire company reports “the Best- phenomenal” are contradictory to us actually running on the track and street. I don’t track my ride merely enjoy w/ occasional road rolls.

I’m running P-1X on a Ls7 bored and sleeved at 6.8 psi- results are 722 Rwhp w/ vehicle weight 3900 lbs. w/ 1/4 fuel no driver (roughly 4100 w/ driver). Hogs head 3.90 ratio. Running 305-30-19 front / 325-30-19 rear.

Any ideas or guidance would be appreciated.

I thought the MT Pro only come in a 15 inch, the OP seem to be looking for a 19 or 20 inch, the MT Drag radial ET Street come in that size and hooks well with high horsepower.

you need a 17" wheel at your point if you're not interested in going for a 15" conversion. The small sidewall with those tires and well as the overall compound does not help you a whole lot.

IF you didn't want to do any of that above, then I would recommend either of these options for you. TOYO R888R, NITTO NT05R NITTO NT555R2. Don't even waste your time on the MT ET STREET SS.

Odd many down this way including myself have tried the NITTO and cannot get them to hook nowhere near as well as the Mickey Thompson 20 inch drag radial ET Street S/S, the NITTO 20 inch haze and spin a lot more from my experience and witnessing. You might get more mileage and better rain traction from the NITTO but as far as hooking/ dry traction the Mickey Thompson from our experience will be your winner at least in the warmer climate this way.

From what I saw/read earlier this week, the Nitto NT05R's have been discontinued.

I ran M/T ET street R on an 18 inch wheel. (305-45-18) and they hooked up VERY well. Wore them out and couldn't find any available so went with Nitto 555's (295-45-18) and they DIDN'T hook up at all (+700 RWHP also) so searched and found 305-45-17 M/T ET street R's. went from 18 to 17 inch wheels. back to good traction!
