Borla exhaust sounds...not muscley

I think I'm just stuck on an idea, but I have the borla s type on my ss and it sounds almost ricey to me compared to the older ls1 engines. Do you think that's the exhaust or the nature of the lt1?

It won't sound deeper just louder like Corsa's. If you want a deep muscle sound Flowmaster's sounds beastly.

I think its partly the Cats. I have the MBRP which is basically straight pipe and it sounds like a muscle car but its still not rumbly like I'd want it. Headers may be your best bet.

To get the sound you are looking for, you will likely be encounter with Drone at cruising speed. I had SW, and switched to Borla for that very reason. Did you install the Borla X-pipe catback system or just the axle back?

just an axel-back will only get you a certain sound, adding catback, headers, and then each combo can give you different sounds and sound is subjective. In the end, an LS1 won't sound like a LT1 and vice versa no matter which exhaust comb you use on either. Listening to certain exhaust setups on other peoples LT1's in person is going to help you most.

Try a muffler delete. It's free to try once you pull the bolas off!

That high pitched sound is due to the X pipe. LS1. LS6. LS7. LS7, LT1, LT4 all sound nearly identical with the same exhaust. I have the Borla S-Type and X pipe and it sounds mean and deep at low RPMs. It is very loud at full throttle and does get a little exotic sounding. I think it sounds wonderful.

If you want an old school muscle car sound (dated IMO) then you should look for an H pipe and a flowmaster setup. You will lose a bit of power though, but probably not enough to notice.

I can tell you LTs/cats make the sound high pitched. I have not heard any LT1 with a deep rumble. High compression I think.

A truck like H-pipe as mentioned may help, but a couple less HP.
