that makes much more sense because of the hard braking, and I don't think people brake right after 1/4 mile. they usually go WOT well past 1/4 mile.

It's a 6th gen. I don't understand why we need to shorten it any further than that.

Orrrrrr... Just call it an F-body like it has been called forever?
C-body. F-body. G-body. B-body. These terms exist for a reason.

Unless you are at one of those tracks that is an 1/8 mile, but open it up to 1/4 for test and tune The closest track to me is like that and it's pretty unsafe.

But I agree with you, makes more sense we have some 0-1XX-0 sprint going on.

GM changed their platform designations. The 5th gen was the first non F-body Camaro, but if you want to call it a F body knock yourself out. Just know, most folks won't have the slightest idea what you're talking about..... especially if you call it F6.

I'm familiar with the old code designations.... had no idea what a F6 car was, so even if you want to stay with F-body, call it 6th gen F-body.... which it isn't BTW. (<- By The Way)

I don't think it's any kind of acceleration test. The shifts are a little on the slow side for it being a test of acceleration.

Is there an "F" in the VIN? Alright then.

Do people call the 1st gen an F1? Alright then.

Call it what you want, maybe you'll start a new fad, like calling a wheel a rim..... Not looking for an argument, just clarifying mud.

Sorry bud, but anyone who is not familiar enough with a Corvette being called a C() and a Camaro being called an F-body is not an enthusiest and I wouldnt be talking to them in the 1st place. Lol
The F code is history-rich. Just as the C is. We apparently have a very different def of "fad".
Also, not trying to be rude, but to call a Camaro a "C" anything is implicitive of novice(at best).

Others are claiming the Challenger is a 12.2 time, that's best time. They are are 12.6 cars.

I bet we will see a "best time" of 11.8 from a bone stock A8 Camaro, the 8 speed C7's have done 11.3's and 11.4's, but are usually high 11's.

12.3 will be the average from a good run in good air.
I've been following both forums since I'm considering both cars. 12.3 from a Challenger in the quarter mile isn't a hero time. It's a very attainable time with the A8 once you learn how to throttle the car without shredding the back tires. Even the auto magazine reviews I've read mention how easily the tires break loose, and that quicker times were possible if given the practice time with the car (I mention these because that's where the times you are referencing come from).

The new guys over there are in the 12.6 - 12.8 area without the slightest clue how to drive. Then you see the progression downward as they figure out how to get the desired reaction from the car.

I am in no way trying to say that car will be better than the Camaro, I'm just calling it like I see it. To write something like that off as a "hero time" without a basis for that opinion would be foolish. It's way too early to be making excuses for GM.

This thread is taking a left turn. It seems there is a decision to be made here regarding the quick reference name. So Fenwick, can you give us all the internal name code use at GM for the new generation of Camaro?
