Engine to Chassis Ground
Is there an engine block to chassis ground? If so where is it? Or is the only engine block ground connected to the negative battery post in the trunk ...if so where is that on the block?

Make one using 4 or 0 guage wire, alternator to frame, alternator to + battery and - battery to frame, its call the big 3

the first is a large wire on the passenger side of the engine, it should be attached at the front of the head and near the abs block. the second is a tiny wire on the drivers side of the engine near the coolant temp sensor

I added one from the stud on the pass cylinder head to the frame where the sway bar bushing is on the frame.

Last weekend I added a ground between the driver's side front of the head and the chassis ground bolt up close to the airbox/inner fender.
The biggest battery style connectors I could find in a store were 2 gauge at Autozone, and I got 2 gauge insulated copper wire at Lowe's. I also removed the big ground wire between the front passenger head and the chassis, and I wire brushed all the connector surfaces. Also disassembled the positive junction block on the driver's side (jumper post thing) and wire brushed all of those connector surfaces. I did all this to try to help hot starts. It's been cold so I haven't had a good test yet.

Do you recall what gauge cable you used? Also was that a 2nd engine to chassis ground in addition to the engine to chassis ground that marklsx mentions in the above post ^^^ "I also removed the big ground wire between the front passenger head and the chassis, and I wire brushed all the connector surfaces".

OP you can run 4 gauge wire. at the lengths you will be running you won't need anything larger than 4 gauge

Update - the ground on the passenger engine side does not go to the chassis. It is actually the ground connection for a harness cluster. Last edited by camguynj; 03-09-2018 at 11:23 AM. |

i'm not sure what the OEM wire size is, but it's either 4 gauge or 2 gauge. i don't think you'll have an issue with either size

That welder wire is the best, has more strains and thick as a mf

Does anyone know if the battery negative cable is attached directly onto the engine block? If so where ? Or is the battery grounded via the trunk frame?
