base Camaro SS: $30k
supercharger: $8k, installed and tuned
full on suspension upgrades: $3k
CCW wheels and Michelin PS2 tires: $5k

watching a $46k Camaro SS whip a $90k Porsche 911: priceless

that's what the video is going to be on YouTube... lol

and, I might add, that's what it would take for a Camaro to beat a 911 around a track... too much mass to be any different... but if you add enough power to it, even a F4 Phantom jet, which doesn't fly on paper, will break the sound barrier.

i agree with the top gear crew, porsche is rubbish. oh gee what does the new 911 look like? just like the old 911.

just because it is 100k doesnt mean the engineering is good. it means they have more cost per car so they dont have as many cars to recoup thier expenditures. chevy is planning to sell more more camaros in 2 months then porsche sells across all its models in a year. they can develop a better car with less cost to the consumer.

Now if you compare to the CaymanS or Boxter, I think the SS would stand a good chance. It will still be far less than those cars.

Fun to money quotient I doubt the Camaro will be touched by anything. I'm just saying in the above that the SS would probably beat both those others cars on the track heads up. Fact is it won't beat the 911, however for the price and look who cares, it will still be an extremely capable road car that will be great for lapping at the local track.

i think it gets to a point were i can be a little too hopeful for this car, and i dont think it will beat the 911 around a track, the simple truth is that the 911 has more brakes since it is lighter and can brake into turns much later and accelerate out faster, sure it may be close for the 1st couple turns but averages lap times are going to continue to move further and further apart.

If I'm honest I have a little voice in my head that says I bet I could beat the average porche owner in a 911 with me in a SS around a track.

I never liked the 911's originally they evolved from a bettle yes a Volkswagen bug , thats why they look similar get it lol , having the engine in the rear was a mistake and porsche has been trying to manage this for decades , weight distributions are horrible , they are way overpriced and sound crappy after all they are just six bangers , nothing like a rumbling V8 that's for shure north americans know how to build true sports cars that sound AND look good

i dont think they (chrysler) were on shrooms, i think they were hung over and thus unable to design a new challenger so they took tracing paper to copy the old car and make it 10% bigger. they then decided to leave an engine best left in a truck since it has a cast iron block to help keep wieght down. sounds like a package i would expect to work great

It was a little joke to congo. Me and him take shots at each other for fun no need to get all grumpy my friend.

for the record I rather have a car designed after an iconic muscle car design than a car designed to look like a caddilac XLR

relax baby
