Question Picking mine up on Monday in Edmonton...

So my lease is up and I bought a Camaro and I'm supposed to pick it up from the stealership on Monday. I'm concerned with the stock summer tires and how they will hold up with the Edmonton weather for the next week or 2. The dealer says it'll be fine with the traction control and such, but I want some owner's opinions... I don't want to die 5 seconds after I drive it off the lot. What do you guys think?

I wouldn't drive it if I was you. They are SUMMER ONLY tires. But hey, it's your $50,000 LOL

if this kind of weather keeps up unless you live next door to the dealership i would NOT recommend driving it on the roads

he's right those are summer only tires

summer tires in snow and ice = death within 5 seconds of leaving lot lol

Yea don't try it unless the roads home are snow and ice free. I had my dealership hold the car last march until a day when the roads cleared up.

BTW let your permagrin begin

I had mine taken on a flat bed from Nicholson by AMA about this time last year No way i would drive my brand new Camaro on these roads....the small tow fee was worth it IMO.
Congrats btw!

Get em to trailer it to your house?

Or wait. It will stay nice and warm in the dealership.

If you must get it home have it flatbedded! A number of folks have done that in the snow weather. Much safer. Besides, salt, sand and chemicals are going to permeate the underbelly! No sense doing that to a nice ride.

if you're really careful i think you would be able to get home, except it just snowed 2 inches today, so maybe not :(

I was going to drive mine home the other night. The truck that I was driving was all over the road the colder the weather got and there was a skiff of snow as well.

This is how mine was brought home. He dropped it off at the mouth of the alley and I took it from there, 1 house down to put it in the garage. The flatbed driver said he didn't think I was going to make it because the back end slid out every time I came off the clutch even a tiny bit.

I'm going to be getting some Pirelli Scorpion Ice and Snows for mine.

BTW...the tow truck driver was AMAzing! He took the utmost care in loading and offloading my baby!

Well... I rolled the last month of my lease into my new loan so I could get the color scheme I wanted, so maybe on Monday when I go and sign the papers maybe they'll let me leave the camaro at the dealership and let me drive my leased car until the snow clears up in a couple of weeks... Anyone think my dealership would let me do that?
