Wrong spark plugs ???

I just put new plugs and wires in 2012 SS L99..got a skip and CEL now...installed ac Delco 41162 which was what it was calling for..they are factory gapped at 40 ..the original plugs were 41110...Im guessing I need to swap back to the original 41110 ????..or is the gap a problem ??? Said not to regap plugs...said they were set at 40..any thoughts ???

As Vegas said, check gap anyways. There not always gapped as should be. I’ve seen them be quite a bit off. I’d start there.

Some people have reported trouble with counterfeit plugs purchased from EBAY and Amazon that misfired.

Some people have expressed concern that maybe Rock Auto might be susceptible to counterfeit also since at least some of their parts (Maybe most/all??) are sold by other suppliers. I haven't had any problem with any Rock Auto myself.

Also, as the plug cap widens with wear, the ECU adjust spark timing. You should
reset the ECU after installing new plugs. Start it, and let it idle for a while to learn
the new timing curve.

It says to turn the car complete off (remove the key), remove power from the ECM
for 20 seconds and then start the car. Let it idle for 10 minutes. Shut it off for 20
seconds and then start it and let it run for 5 minutes. Shut it off again and you're
done.

This is so it learns cold and operating temp idle. This is a universal
OBDII solution, each MFR has their own actual relearn procedure.

This is a complete relearn, after pulling ECU power.

Follow these steps to complete an Idle Relearn:
  1. With vehicle at a complete stop, set the parking brake.
  2. Put gear shifter in "P" (Park), turn off all accessories.
  3. Run the engine until it reaches normal operating temperature.
  4. Allow engine to idle for at least one minute.
  5. Turn the air conditioning on and allow the engine to idle for at least one minute.
  6. Release the parking brake. With your foot on the brake pedal and the A/C still on, put the vehicle in "D" (Drive) and allow the engine to idle for at least one minute.
  7. Drive the vehicle to complete the relearning process. Just make sure you drive easy for the first 30 miles, so the PCM can re-learn and adapt to your driving style.
This is from another Camaro forum:

Throttle/Idle Learn

Description

The engine control module (ECM) learns the idle position of the throttle body to ensure the correct idle operation. Anytime the ECM or the throttle body is replaced, the ECM must learn the idle position. The engine idle may be unstable or a DTC may set if the idle position is not learned.

Conditions for Running the Idle Learn Procedure

* DTCs P0121, P0122, P0123, P0221, P0222, P0223, P0638, P2100, P2101, P2105, and P2119 are not set.
* The engine speed is less than 40 RPM.
* The vehicle speed is 0 km/h (0 mph).
* The accelerator pedal position is less than 14.9 percent.
* The ignition 1 voltage is more than 10 volts.
* The engine coolant temperature is between 5-85°C (41-185°F).
* The intake air temperature is between 5-60°C (41-140°F).
Idle Learn Procedure

Note:
* Ensure the above conditions are met before performing with this procedure.
* Do not perform this procedure if a throttle position sensor or other throttle actuator control (TAC) system DTCs are set other than P2176. The ECM will not perform the idle learn procedure with a DTC set.

1. Turn OFF the ignition for 30 seconds.
2. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF for 60 seconds.
3. Turn OFF the ignition.
4. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
5. Clear the DTCs with a scan tool.

Pull the code and check the wires and make sure everything is seated correctly. You can also swap a coil pack and wire to see if the CEL follows instead of just blindly replacing parts.

Nothing wrong with the 41162, just a new part number. If you verified the gap is correct, I would look at coil/wire next.
