35,000$ car purchase??

Complain about 3,000 - 5,000$ wheels??

I think I missed something.

If you do not like wheel prices, buy a cheaper wheel that looks like crap and everyone else has, or keep your stockers on, and say that "it is the best looking wheel for the 5th gen Camaro" like others who don't want to pay for good looking wheels claim.

I personally cannot justify spending that kind of money on wheels although that is a personal preference. With that being said I can see where the cost of such wheels is justified. Whereas I manufacture parts I have quite a bit of knowledge in this field. People hear CNC and they think you throw a hunk of aluminum on a machine and it's done but that is far from the case. There is so much time involved in r&d,programing, set up, fixturing and machining time, materials, tooling, maintanance, finishing the list goes on. I would welcome anyone to come to my shop and watch the time involved in manufacturing parts and I guarantee you will walk out with a different opinion.

I understand what Coop is saying, and I also understand quality of a rim. . . but I should not have to fork out 50% of my months pay for a set of rims. $5k is a lot of money still.. . .

IMO, a set of rims are not worth 25% of what you paid for the car.

I would not mind spending money on a set of wheels that would make my SS handle better. If I had the money to spare that is.

But spending big bucks just for looks? Not for me I guess.

ive had a set of 3 piece Volks that were over $500 a wheel and 18s... my biggest concern was tires.. today 18-22 tires are becoming more and more affordable...

Everyone has a different perspective. For example, before I bought my Camaro I was also considering a Porche 911 Turbo. But I thought I could spend $130K on the car and not have money left over to personalize it, or I could buy a $38K 2SS/RS Camaro and have $92K for upgrades like super charger, forged wheels, cam, gears, exhaust, wheels, suspension, etc. I've spent about $55K for my Camaro, it has nearly 600 rwhp and a suspension (with the upgrades) that rivals the 911. On top of all that I think it looks better.

So my perspective was to take a $38K sports car and transform it into a super car for about half the cost of a super car.

But you don't HAVE to buy these kinds of rims. Only buy them if you really want them. There are cheaper rims available; just don't expect to get the look, precision and lighter weight of 3-piece forged rims for the price of cheaper, cast rims.

If I could afford them, I'd buy them. But I can't so I look for lower cost forged wheels. Nine Ball turned me onto Pro Wheels, and now I'm saving for those. Much more reasonably price FOR ME, whereas D2s might be reasonably priced for someone else.
