Wow! A lot of V6 hate on this one, I test drove both before deciding on the V6, considering the price difference for a car that looks almost EXACTLY the same as the V8, I went for the 6
For the record, I worked at a Chevy dealership for a couple of months before moving onto GEICO, i have driven the V8 numerous times, it didnt give me enough of a wow factor to spend more and upgrade

You did it right. When I bought my 1LT it was the only Camaro I test drove. I was on a road trip and in a hurry, and I was really sick of the car I was trading in... so I bought the V6. I traded the LT for a SS 8 months later, shortly after driving a friend's SS. I loved the LT but always felt it was just missing something. Turns out that something was 2 more cylinders. Some folks are just V8 people and to others, it doesn't matter. To each their own.

Except that I can get to 155, stop, get out, and be on my second beer by the time you catch up to me.

Keep in mind for some people the additional power of the V8 is too much....
If you want mpg and drive far then go with the V6. My 13' 2LT/RS was a great performance car and at 323 stock hp was not bad at all on the street or at the track events I went to on occasion. If you drive local between work and home then the V8 is great. The additional hp is fun. One think to think about is your modding habits. Will you mod for performance or looks? I feel into the performance crowd and I hit the limit of what I could do to the V6 without going into forced induction which can get very expensive on V6 cars. As my V6 car was not a DD anymore I decided to upgrade. Now I'm a little extreme as I doubled down and skipped the SS upgrade and went straight to the ZL1 as I knew I'd just be trying to upgrade my SS as some point. Better to buy what you really want you can afford right off the bat. So with all that said the upgrade question is really a personal one and only you can truly decide what's best ....imagine that. lol

It's always funny when guys come over and talk to me about my car at gas stations or whatever. First question is almost ALWAYS "what engine does it have?" then when I tell them V6 their noses turn up and they get bitter beer face lol

I'd love to have a V8 again. Money aside, yeah, they're a lot more fun to drive and embody what the "Muscle car" is all about in terms of raw power and sound. The V6 is great, but, let's be honest...you can get 300hp V6 thrills in minivans these days. The SS and other V8 Camaros are clearly distinguished from most "pedestrian" vehicles by their power.
Is it "worth" it from a financial perspective? Well, that's up to you and your budget. Test drive one of each and decide if you need/want that kind of power, and if you want to spend extra money for it. |

I wish the V6 and V8 cars were more different..when a v6 mustang runs a v6 Camaro down, he needs to know whats what, so he doesn't go bragging he took down a Camaro whatever.
Everyone wants to upgrade their cars, I have Zl1 tires and wheels and a blade spoiler on my 2SS…so Im to blame as well. Corvette has a better handle on their cars identities I think.

True, the v8 sounds like you're driving a P-51 but really, is that a deal breaker? As for all the arguments about the time to accelerate to the limiter - when will you EVER be able to do that? It all simply boils down to what you want, need or desire out of YOUR car. I'd take my "baby" v6 over a v8 on slick OR roads any time.

When I bought my V6, I thought I'd never want anything else...BUT, the V8 bug finally took over and I upgraded and I'm so happy with my decision. The only drawback, if you consider it a drawback, is that the V8 doesn't get the great V6 gas mileage, but the trade off was really worth it to me.

You all are lucky there is a V6 Camaro, because without it there probably would not be a Camaro at all. If there was, they would be much more expensive than they are now.
