Another paint chip spoiler victim

Well here are the pics of my big surprise last night. Was sick to my stomach after seeing this. I checked the forums and saw that a number of you have had the same problem. makes me just shake my head. Just frustrating that only 1 week of ownership and there are already flaws.

Same exact thing happened to me, mine was worse though, dealer took care of it no problem though! Had the entire trunk lid repainted.

Make sure the spoiler bolts are tight or get rid of the factory spoiler.

I was washing mine tonight, and noticed the same thing on mine as well. I've had it 2 weeks now, 2011 2SS/RS.

Going to have to take it in and have it sorted.

After reading this and the other other thread about these paint chips under the spoiler, I had to go out and scrutinize my spioler/deck lid. No chip as I thought because I had just washed and waxed it. My spoiler does not come in contact with the deck lid. If you look close enough you can see some kind of pad or something between the spoiler and the deck lid that keeps the edges of the spoiler about a 32nd or more of an inch off the deck lis. Did this material change to something thinner that now allows the spoiler to contact the deck lid?

Visited my dealer this morning and I have an appointment with their onsite body shop on the 26th to have her fixed. Funny thing was when I asked the service guy if they had dealt with or seen this type of problem before he of course said no. I mentioned that I've read of a number of people who had the same problem. he asked if I read about it through a blog. I of course mentioned the website & forum & even pulled up pictures from the site that others had posted. he then said & I quote "GM doesn't recognize blogs or forums" "I just looked on the GM website & I didn't see this type of issue listed. This is a first for me, don't worry we will have it good as new for you"

I'll keep you all posted & I will post up pictures once I get her back from the shop. He said it may take a couple days.

YES! and do not delay! If you should get a chance to speak with the paint shop ask him/her if they noticed any issues when they sanded the chips. If they did PM me please.

Paul. After reading this earlier in the week I looked and I had NO paint chips either.

I washed her last night... Hand washed.

I have the same exact ship in the first picture and my Spoiler does not come in contact with me trunk "WHEN I AM LOOKING AT IT" lol.....

Also I have a 2011 2SS/RS with 700 miles on it, so it is not a first gen..

Going this morning for an oil change and point out the chip.

I'm afraid to look at mine. Guess I better get it over with and go look.
