Honestly I have used weldcraft in the past and would only trust them with my life. The best reason to widen the rear is that you can go to 10.25 or even 10.50 with a spacer I believe. I dont like the idea of running a spacer on performance car. That being said many have done it with out issues.

@GQ4LIFE, I am sure people have had problems with spacers in the past. The kind that I used, and the kind that most performance shops recommend using are the hub-centric variety. It is also important to get a good brand, like H&R. The spacers are expensive, but you get what you pay for.

I would not recommend using a spacer that does not have its own studs, since you will only get a few threads to put the lug nuts back onto with. Of course, with any spacer you are putting extra stress onto the studs and the hub since you are furthering the distance in which the wheel is mounted. With that being said, a lot of guys in the business have told me that using a good quality hub-centric spacer, installed correctly, is safe.

BTW, I fit an 11'' widened stock wheel with a 20mm spacer, and no problems so far.

The rear wheels have a deeper dish than the fronts, so I want to leave them back there. I've seen photos of the rears moved to the front with the widened fronts on the back, and it looks goofy to me.

However, that's just a matter of personal taste. There are no technical problems with doing it that way, and a lot of people do it.

The tires will stick out less if you move the fronts to the rear. That is, until you add a spacer. In fact, that's why you need a spacer if you use the fronts.

If you just widen the rear wheels, the outside of the tire will be in the same place (approximately, depending on tire size) because you're only adding backspacing to the wheel when you widen it. As long as you don't go more than 10.5 inches, you should have enough inboard clearance without using any spacers.

I've got the wheels ordered, and they should be here in a few days. I'm getting an extra set of 20x9s because I want to mount INVOs on all four corners and NT05Rs on the other set of rears for track days.

I'll take the extra set up to Dallas next week, hopefully, and they said it will take about a week to turn them around. This way I don't have any down time on the car. Once I get the first two widened, I'll get the INVOs mounted, slap them on the car, and then take the OEM rears back to Wheels America for the same drill. Then I can mount the track tires on those two rims.

O.K., I took a new set of OEM 20x9s up to Wheels America in Dallas yesterday. I should get them back in about a week, and I'll post up pics before I mount the tires on them.

Can't wait to see how this turns out. I want to have mine widened, but I did not want to go through the hassle of shipping the wheels. Good luck.

I'm having some done at Weldcraft. Their price to widen a 20" is now $275. Currently about a 5 week lead time. I'm having the rears widened. I think I'm going to widen to 10.5" so I don't have to run adapters. Are there any pics of rear wheels widened to 10.5" running a 315 tire and no adapter? I've seen the pics of fronts widened with adapters.

I just had a pair of rear wheels widened to 10.5 inches. The tires (305 P Zeros) are on order. With the car on jack stands I mounted a wheel (no tire) on to see what kind of clearance there was. There was about a 1/2 inch clearance between the inside edge of the rim and the plastic wheel well liner. I figure with the 305 tire on and with bulge of the side wall there may be very little clearane. But, keep in mind that the suspension is unloaded and hanging at this point. The geometry will change with the suspension loaded, hopefully with more clearance. I'll find out when the tires arrive.

I"ll have some for you here in about a week. I'm going to mount 315 INVOs on the 10.5" rims I get back from Wheels America. Once I have them, I'll post up pics with and without the tires mounted, so we can see how much clearance we have (loaded and unloaded).
