Borla Exhaust
Been looking into getting the Borla ATAK Catback system for the maro. Also looking into getting a set of shorty headers in the near future. Question I ask is how much of a HP gain am I looking at buying this $1400 exhaust? 10-15, maybe 20? Still searching around but want some opinions. Also can't decide on which headers I want that will get me the best performance for the buck and if it would be smart of me to stick with Borla all the way through for the whole exhaust. Thanks for taking the time to read. And thanks in advance.

Don't do an exhaust mod for HP gains (you'll never know what they are), do it for the sound. My Borla catback and long-tube headers are by far the best mods I've done to my car.

any mod after the cats is purely for sound. At *most* you'll get 5hp.

Should have explained more clearly, my fault. I meant with the full exhaust (headers, catback) how much am I looking at normally?

With shorty headers and the stock tune? Maybe 25-30 to the wheels

I'm not sure how loud the shorties are compared to LTs, but my LTs made it much louder with my S-type exhaust. To the point I'm glad I didn't get the ATAK. It's not the outside noise, it's the cabin noise and drone that gets you. Borlas are drone prone. Have you heard shorties and the ATAK together yet?

Shortys are about 6-7 and catbacks 5-10 at the wheels generally.Sortys make it a little louder and deeper.Shortys and magnaflow catback on my 98 z28 sounds great

I have a buddy that tunes camaros in atlanta so its something I'm looking into shortly also. I would like to have a few more mods after the exhaust and CAI before I get the tune done, but its definitely something that I will have done.

I would say combined you would get 15-20 at most with no tune.
The dyno's I've seen on shorties have shown about 10 and catbacks generally give 5-10. |

I haven't seen any threads where people have been picking up much at all with shorties. I think it will depend if you use the OEM cats or put on HF cats. It's pretty well know that the biggest restriction in our exhaust is the factory OEM cats. You would get more performance/HP/sound by changing to HF cats and using the factory headers than if you put on shorties and use the factory cats.
I don't know that cat-backs will even get you 5 rwhp. Before I had my headers installed we did a pre-dyno. My car had a cat-back, CAI, and the rear cat removed. It made 378 rwhp on a dyno where most LS3 were making around 370. So, those simple mods netted me about 8 rwhp.
