I need help...
Hello all!
I got a new top put on my vert a few months ago.. but something seems off.. i dont rememebr if i noticed this before, but i notice it now. But basically right above the driver and passanger windows on the inside i can see the metal underneath the fabric. I was wondering if anyone can take a picture of their tops in the closed position on the driver and passanger side so i can see if this problem is normal or the dealership messed up for the 70th time on my top... the first mess up they did was i had severe loose spots on the top AND like cactuseater.. i had something pushing up on the fabric that was starting to make it tear.. its awful.. but i just wanted to get everything corrected before i hit my 2 year mark!! UGH! i just want it to WORK right! lol! Thanks for anyone who can help!!

The cloth liner is supposed to extend down behind the trim all around, hiding the cables and rails and supports. On the passenger side of mine, it's tightly in place. On the driver's side, the liner is loose and doesn't go behind the trim. It just meets the top of the trim, so you can easily push it up to peek at the mechanism underneath.
I'm living with this anomaly, for now. Unless it gets worse, other issues weigh on my mind with this Blue Pandora's Box on Wheels. Angella, you're entitled to a top that works properly and looks correct. |

I don't own a new Camaro convertible, but personally, if you have zero leaks, no puddle on back floor, the water bag works right, the rear window is not separated, the 5th bow is not snapped, the top is tight around the two rear windows, the top folds up and down properly, you don't have places that look like holes will occur, and when top is up the top looks "right" from the outside of the car....my advise is.....
Do not take your car back. Just wait until the future when you genuinely need a new top due to wear and tear and sheer oldness. I.e. = if it aint broke = don't fix it. To me every time they disassemble that mess you are probably guaranteed a "new" problem will be created. Most people I'm sure would be happy the top works and doesn't leak. but it's up to you. Maybe they can make a "slight" adjustment and fix it without messing something else up. |

I noticed the same thing this afternoon. It's not tucked in about an 8 inch spot over both windows. It looks like the headliner shrunk!

I too have the same condition after my top replacement and TSB work. Guess my mind wasn't playing tricks on me after all.

I showed the headliner on first car to the guy that did the top replacement before it was replaced. He said he could try to fix it and make it look perfect but it may take 5 times or more. He couldn't guarantee it would look good since there are so many parts etc that have to match up perfect. Once the top was replaced the headliner was better but not by much. On my second car it appears they made the headliner a little bigger so none of the mechanism shows.

Guys, what is happening is that the clips that stretch the inner liner in place and down have been trimmed. They are trimmed because in their prior configuration, they impinged on the inside of the top causing the indentations and then the holes. So trimming them fixes the issues but exposes the inner side of the wheels.

My top assembly was replaced in mid-July. When I picked up the car, I noticed some sagging of the headliner in the area you describe. Took it back and they adjusted, the trim shop says a little sag is necessary in the new design to facilitate folding.
