Cam choice on my build

2010 Camaro SS w/ 6 speed
My ls3 blow last winter. So I decided if I need a motor , do a stroker I purchased a Katech 416 short block with callie crank and rods and Mahle pistons w/ valve reliefs. My heads were sent out to a guy that chambered and polished them , he actually did 1 chamber by hand then made a cnc program to duplicate the rest. From what I understand the heads are chambered @ 64cc not sure what the flow is.
The car already has :
American racing complete exhaust w/ long tubes and cat deletes
Fast 102 intake
102 throttle body (nick williams)
4:10 gears
Melling oil pump
PAC valve springs triple
Gm hi performance roller lifters
I am installing a mitsimoshu aluminum radiator
ATI balancer
Doing the numbers with the gaskets And the cc’s from the heads we should be around 12:1

My tuner decided on a cam by going back and fourth with the guy that did the heads and another tuner and came up with this
224/236 .646 lift and a 117lsa
Cam was made by LSM

The head guy wanted to see a bigger cam but my tuner said this spec is a nice running and ‘fun’ build..
this car is just a weekend driver and something to mess with the mustangs

Oh yea gonna spray a 150 shot also if needed...
My old cam spec was 226/234 .621 114 lsa that cam was prior to doing the heads and on the stock motor.. you heard the cam and felt it also.
I guess my question would be will this cam feel and sound the same?, stronger?
I know performance wise I will gain all across the line I think

I mean you aren't really comparing apples to apples. But i mean the car is going to pull harder now than it did before without question lol.

From what my builder / tuner says we will be closer to a ls7 (427)

My concern is the new cam choice. Not clear on the numbers

That’s like a stage 1 cam in an LS7... For my C6Z I have 233/245 652/635 113+3. This pulls like a freight.

Any stroker needs at least 23X* intake duration.
A 235/248 would be bare minimum if I were building something. Also tighten up the LSA from 117* unless going to a positive displacement blower later. Say 113* or tighter.

Have to defer to the guys with stroker experience here!

Bo is spot on. Need a lot more duration for the extra displacement. And the LSA is too wide for an N/A motor.

With a 12:1cr stroker, you're playing children's games with that tiny cam.

I went with a very mild cam for my stroker.....234"/254*, 115* + 4* with 11.5:1 cr.

I have two more dynos I want to put the car on, but the first dyno came in at 532hp/496tq to the wheels.

This is the 4th cam I've put in the engine....and it pulls hardest....harder than the LLSR that it replaced.

With a srtoker, and 12:1cr, I'd DEFINATELY go with more cam.....and no more than a .035" head gasket.

BTW....my heads/cam 6.2 LS3 in my Impala specs at 11.3:1 compression with a 229*/242* cam.

Best of luck with whatever you end up with!!

KW

The cam is way too small for a 416 and the LSA is too wide at 117
