LOL nicely played TOUCHE! Seriously why do we all have to act like idiots and make personal attacks on people when we are talking about cars. I love mine, you love yours. If we go head to head and I win good for me, if you win good for you. I for one am not going to kill someone for having a faster car!

Oh and Brodie you are a bigger man than I for 'going easy' most of the time on a 700+ RWHP car

Those folks specialize in handling around road courses and such, so that is where his point of view is coming from.

Us knuckledragging drag racers have different priorities.

To which one could very accurately reply "hey, that old pushrod technology does an OUTSTANDING job".

Oh wait....I think I just made a point....

And please pardon my admitted bias - I get my rocks off down the 1/4 mile (along with driving down every day roads).

well its pretty hard to see if the brembo brakes are on the Mustang in the video. But it DOES look like he's not shifting in the video a lil bit. although the nose dive at the beginning does look like manual transmission shifts.

SRA ride over potholes just fine, and the difference is hardly discernable at all. saying an SRA cant handle daily driver duties is like saying pushrod engines cant rev and sound like truck engines.

I bet that fewer than 1% of all Camaros built have ever been to a drag strip... and I mean TO a strip. Maybe 25% of those have actually been ON a strip and timed. Why penalize over 99% of your market with a poor ride quality to satisfy the needs of the vast minority of owners?

And don't even try and come back with a bunch of nonsense about magazines liking the SRA just as well because it's just as fast/almost as fast/faster on some track, because probably fewer camaros have been to a track than a drag strip.

For the purposes of comfort and handling on everyday roads in everyday conditions... IRS wins hands down. It will sell more cars too.

For the other 99.3% of all Mustang owners, that live axle is a detriment to their car 99% of the time compared to IRS on public roads and highways.
Great minds think alike.

I don't think an IRS is synonomous with "import". Not sure DOHCs are either, but I digress.

As for an SRA vs IRS...I would suggest that the vast majority of buyers don't know the difference. Same things applies to DOHC/OHC vs OHV.

In my opinion, a large percentage of folks are going to buy a Mustang because it is a "Mustang". Similarly, a large group of people are going to buy a Camaro because it is a "Camaro". Others will pick one or the other because it "looks" better (to them) or has the features that they want. Some may even drive them both back-to-back, and then decide - though I really think that is a small minority.

All just MHO, of course.

heres something you IRS nuthuggers are failing to realize. Ford WANTED to put an IRS in the 2005+ standard.

it was through their Gallop poll, a survey they did among Mustang drivers, that they learned that the majority of Mustang drivers, both past and future, WANTED a solid rear axle.

So if less than 1% of that poll wouldve voted solid axle i seriously doubt Ford wouldve even considered a solid axle. its what we, the past and future mustang buyer, wanted. im VERY happy Ford went with it and hope they keep it.

why did so many people convert their IRS mustangs to stick axles? becuase it sucked.
