I LOVE GM vehicles, and particularly Chevy's, but would buy any GM vehicle if I had the $$...Hopefully, one day, soon enough, a 5th Gen CAMARO! Dave_O

Hi Dave! No, the driveway only takes a few minutes, I have a 4WD snowblower. Unfortunately, I can't use it on the boat....have to shovel that by hand. Yuk.

Boat guy.

Yep, true confessions here...I'm not REALLY a Camaro guy...I'm really a boat guy. Got four right now. I get play with boats for a living. I think I'm one of those "Life Enthusiasts" that GM target marketed with the Camaro (although this will be our fifth, one first gen, two seconds, one third.) Not really a "Driving Enthusiast"...which is probably good, since we only have 40 miles of road and you can't go anywhere from here by car except on a ferry....oh, and it's only 8 miles to work on a 45mph road, so I'll likely have a very low mileage SS that's never been over 55 for some time...a real "Little Old Ladies" car!

LOL, well, I don't resent you for the cold, but I do resent you for the 4 boats!!! And that sounds about what my dad has to work, although he takes it well over the posted speed of 40mph on his way.... This may sound like a dumb question but.... Have you ever worked on the ice roads up there in AK?

Ice roads

You mean like the Ice Road Truckers? No, not really. I have driven on ice roads before though...across frozen rivers, lakes and muskeg. You can't drive normal vehicles on most of that stuff during the summer, too mushy. We had an off-road ATV once, called an Argo....8 wheel drive and that thing would go some crazy places. Had a blast with it for many years. Airplanes are still the way to go in most of Alaska with boats a close second. In the interior, planes are the best, but down here in Southeast, I think I prefer the boat...lots of waterways; we have 33,000 miles of shoreline, 3,000 rivers and 3 million lakes over 20 acres. Most def boat country!

Yea, I meant like the Ice Road Truckers....
Thats pretty awesome though...I loved my boat when we had one! ATVs are fun too! The planes used most often are the small personal ones right? This might be ANOTHER dumb question, but do a lot of Alaskans own and fly their own planes?

Yup, lots of small planes

Some years ago, I'd heard that Alaska led the nation in number of private pilots per capita....likely it's still true. We had our own plane for many years and flew all over the place. Sold it when we bought our first big boat and never looked back...love boating. If you get a chance, check out RIDE magazine, usually free at American Watercraft Association supporting PWC dealers. I just got my copy today and there's a Dog article; the first one features an American Eskimo named Kobuk....that's him riding with me on my PWC from last summer. Boating is the best and cars are a bit behind second (or third) in my book (probably get flamed for that!)
