new tires

Picked up a set of continental tires for the rear. I went with 315 x35. I only took it for a short drive home from the shop, but I think these tires ride a lot better then the stock one. The ones I got were Continental Extreme Contact DWS. Not only do I think they ride better then the goodyear, they are half the price. I do not track my car, and although they have a "W" speed rating, I am sure that would be fine for track use?.
anyone else have any experience with these tires.

What kind of track? They are an all season. Not sure how well they would do on a road course. I imagine they would get greasy pretty fast.

Half price? So these tires were 133.00 each? Seriously? Where did you find these. That's an awesome (unbelievable, actually) price.

if you look in the "Tires" section, A LOT of people are riding on these, and love them.

The DWS is a great all-season tire and one I've had on many RWD cars for winter driving in the last few years. They will NOT hold up to track use. Period. They do not have close to the grip of a hot Goodyear F1 or Michelin PSS. They get a bit greasy when they get hot and you will find yourself sliding all over the place with no ability to regulate weigh transfer. Braking will also suffer.

These are road tires, and nothing more. But they are a great road tire, especially in rain or snow (assuming good tread depth).

As for price, I got mine more than a year ago, 275 in front 315 in back, for less than $1,000 installed. I don't know that I've seen the rears under $225 or the fronts under $175. So if you got them for half of the price of the Goodyears, you got a smoking deal. If you got them for half the price they're usually costing, you should buy them out of all stock and sell them +10% on here. You'd make a mint.

Side note: Continental is discontinuing the DWS and replacing it with something new. Not sure what the designation was, though.

It's what they had, and I was about to drive into freezing weather the next day with rain in the forecast. On the F1s?

That's a big fat bag of NOPE.

I went 275's on the front. I figure they might kick up a little less dirt down the side of the car.

I got the price a little confused with the dealer price. Dealer wanted 549.00 a piece for the eagles, I never researched what they were online. I got the dws for 270.00 through tirerack. I like the tires longevity, but it comprises performance big time. I took it out yesterday for the first time, and it was too easy to slide around. I need to be extra careful with these no-grip tires.

I bought the Michelin SS and I love them. You should try them if you are unhappy with what you have.

Thanks PkTrusty, I think I will give them another look if I go to replace the front.
If I remember correcting does the Michelin ss have a low UTQG rating like the eagles?.
I like the continentals because I can get 25-30k out of the tires. I just have to drive smart. and honestly I don't need all that stickness to drive it the way I want. And I know of a few other drivers that could drive with these tires. Just need to learn the car.

I got 25000 miles from my first set of Mich PSS. I love the way they ride and handle.

Those weren't on your 10 second zl1 car right?. That car is too new to have gone through the stock and then a set of Michelins right?.
