I have one, it's the best you can buy for a reasonable price ( valentine 1 ) brand new $400 the companies so confident in their product that if you get a ticket they will pay for it for you. It detects radars from a mile and a half + also theirs arrows on it, so it tells you if it's behind you, in front, or on the side. It's saved me countless times

Mine is mounted on the upper left hand side of my windshield. Wires are all tucked behind the pillar molding. Have the concealed mini-display on the left part of my dash, just to the left of the steering wheel for easy viewing by me.

I have a 9500ix, but just recently bought a v1. The v1 came with two mounts, a visor mount and the traditional suction cup mounts. You can buy a mount that attaches to the rear view mirror and a two wire hook up connecting your v1 to the mirrors power so you don't have a code exposed. I have the mirror mount coming, it looks very stealth.

I have a 9500 ix which works good for me. One thing a radar wont protect you from if your on country-esq roads is an officer comming at you with the radar on.. ive be nailed a time or two that way...for highway useage its great and sometimes ( generally more often than not) is effective in town, unless the officer is being tricky with the radar ( on off- pop) etc.

IMO, V1 is the only way to go.
My V1 with Blendmount concealed display for added privacy As you can see, I have it hardwired so there are no visible cords at all.

I started with the Valentine One, four years ago. It's VERY sensitive, and can find radar ahead, behind, and to the sides of the car, as the detector indicates with arrows.
It's ultra sensitivity is its own enemy...seems it is constantly beeping. You can't differentiate or filter the detection adequately so it's beeping, along with the mostly useless X band (door openers in shopping malls). Becomes quite noisy. I decided the extra sensitivity was not worth the noisy presence so I moved on to the next best detector. I then upgraded to the Escort 9500iX, and although it's a bit less sensitive for distance, it is quite adequate, and with the optional "Laser Shifter", it's almost invincible (along with the GPS data). Although uploading the weekly updates for the GPS seems to make it more annoying. If someone identifies a "speed trap", it gets included in the updates and will sometimes annoy you with unnecessary speed trap locations. Once the speed trap is loaded, you have no way to remove it - somewhat flawed by Escort. Also, if you're on a freeway and pass under a known red light camera at an intersection above your roadway, it will alert you of the camera's location - which won't apply to the freeway - since it's GPS-based. I'm totally happy with the 9500iX otherwise. I have since installed the Qi45 stealth remote mounted detectors in two of my other cars. Wouldn't you know, they just released the 8500ci PLUS...! That would be my choice today.

I have a passport 8500 and have no complaints. I did a hardwire install...lost the pics, but the how to writeup is still in my build journal and you should be able to complete without the pics.

I have a K40 Calibre. It's completely hidden and opperates with a remote I have attached to the topside of my sunviser. Now as you'll see it is pricey. BUT it is unseen which means thieves won't be tempted. Cops won't see it. It indicates radar coming from the front or if its coming from the rear. It detects all radar bands in use presently. I can tell you it works very well and has kept me out of trouble at least once. I could justified the cost by the reasons listed above and the fact that by now I have so much invested in my car that I didn't want anything less and the fact I could afford it which also makes a big difference for which route a person takes. Good luck in your quest.
