The mat that gets hot under the seat probably has an open or burnt spot that intermittently touches. A good way to test is to turn the heated seat on but don't sit down in the seat and see if it stays on for a couple of minutes, if so then sit down in the seat and see if the heater then turns off. Could also be the module that controls the heated seats but from my experience the mat's usually burn through somewhere in the heater circuit over time.

I had this happen on the drivers side. I had to replace the heater elements...they were very cheap so I did it myself.

I needed like 20 or 25 hog rings (I forget)...did not remove the head rest...just pulled the leather far enough out of the way.

I tried to peel the old elements out, but they were taking foam with them, so I just left them and cut their wires off, and put the new ones right on top of the old ones. The seat looks perfect still, feels perfect still, and works again. The only special tool I needed was a hog ring plier from Amazon.

It maybe takes an hour and a half to do. The hardest part of the job was snipping the old hog rings out to get the leather off

SAME problem here...
passenger side works fine, but when i turn on the drivers side...the green light goes off after about 45 seconds....never heats up.
IM NOT taking it to the shop..i figured this might be something i can fix myself if only i knew what it was....from here it sounds like the heating element...hummmm
where do i get one?...dealer only?

I ordered them from a friend that works at a parts desk. PM me and I'll send you his info. He can also get you the hog rings...which are necessary. If you've never used hog ring pliers, order more than he says you need...they're very very cheap, and you might lose one or miss when you clamp it the first time or 2.

wiring issue at connector more thank likely, sometimes you can repair the wiring if its not too close to the connector if it is a new element is in order.

Both of my heaters did it on a short trip but they haven't shut down since.

Same here on my drivers seat. I can probably count the times on my hands how many times I;v turned them on. Pumpkin is usually tucked away by the time it get's cold.

I'm having this issue as well... also only on the drivers seat... Sounds like a bigger issue for the numbers that are having issues.
