ZL1 vs bolt on 5.0

Idk my car could pull a pulley and tuned A6 CTS-V. Never been a fan of the boss intake and the tune is gonna make all the difference in the race. Should be close though

Drivers are the key if we are talking manuals. And tires. If we are talking autos they can run mid 11s with the listed mods and DRs. So if autos, the 5.0 has the edge.

This is very interesting bc off the top of my head (without proof) I would have immediately figured a stock kr stockish Zl1 would easy take a full bolt on 5.0. I am saying this again without facts or proof for an argument.

I am scheduled to run a full bolt on 5.0 manual next weekend and if those things can hang with or take a ZL1, I probably dont stand much of a chance. Now my car is NOT stock and is a cammed full bolt on car but I doubt I can take a ZL1. I would like to run one just to see

You can definitely take a zl1. Like I previously said I've already beaten them with just headers and a tune

The way I looked at it just now was this.

Stock ZL1's run low 12's on average, around 115-118 MPH. Stock 5.0's run mid-high 12's @ 110-113 MPH. Bolt-on 5.0 are definitely into the deep 11's @ 117-120 MPH. So, a Stock ZL1 beating a Full bolt-on 5.0 may not be as easy as it sounds IMO.

Hopefully we can get some feedback from the ZL1 owners that may run a bolt-on 5.0.

I'll try to get some gopro footage soon...the 5.0 is having TB issues right now. This may seem like a repetitive topic due to the videos you can find on youtube of bolt on 5.0s pulling on ZL1s, but the reason I'm so curious is because I have also seen youtube videos of STOCK 5.0s pulling on ZL1s and I know from experience that doesn't happen.

What does "exhaust" mean? If it means headers and catback, you will probably win. If it means only a catback, the 5.0 will likely win.
The 5.0 has some decent mods that really wake up those engines.

Way too many variables. Tires and suspension mods for both cars? How high is the 5.0 spinning the engine? Had a buddy keep 7200RPM shift points with the BOSS intake and it went slower. That intake needs 7500RPM or over shifts to make a difference. What kind of tune and fuel is being used on the 5.0? Any weight reduction? How cold will the weather be? Will the ZL1 be heat soaked? From what I have seen stock ZL1's hate heat more than other cars. Driver skill?(this is a big 1).

Even if the ZL1 is heat soaked it will still pull the mustang..Assuming the Drivers are clones and all else is equel

sure, Was at sac raceway last Wednesday.. Will go again soon I sure did run faster than a lot of mustangs. There was one faster than me.. A rouse stage 3 he beat me by .2 lol Come on over near Chico this weekend..
