Trifecta tune or Dyno tune?

Opinions on which will give me the most bang for the buck. Local dyno charges $650 to dyno tune. I have no idea how much the trifecta tune is, and don't you have to do that yourself?

as far as I understand, Vince at Trifecta is the only one able to tune our v6 engines at this point.

According to almost everyone, you will get now real gains from a tune, but you will void warrantee

He is, and you will want to dyno the car as you do this.

Basicly, you'll buy the tune from Vince. You datalog the factory tune for him while on a dyno, or a track. He tweaks the tune and you dyno/run again, while datalogging. You send that to him, he either makes adjustments or calls it good.

I don't know of anyone else who has cracked the tune. Of course Vince does have resellers, and that might be what you are getting cnj.

So how much does the tune cost? And then on top of that I have to pay for dyno time to get it all worked out? Thanks for the advice.

$400...a little more for the OBDII cable, which you'll want. That way you can flash back to factory when needed, or wanted.

But yeah, that's about the way it works. Check with your dyno guy, he might be a Trifecta reseller.

unless your going to seriously mod with long tube headers & high flow cats...don't bother getting a tune.

I did most of my dataloggin on the road. I switched around between country bumpkin roads to city streets to highways to give him a wide range each time I datalogged. Vince was lovin it like it was McDonalds or something.

There's really no gain on the v6 engine from a tune alone. What Vince can do is change your shift points, firm up the shifts when you use the paddles and reduce the torque management where its more fun but still safe for the tranny. Thats your basic tranny tune he can set up. For the engine he can make sure the air-fuel ratio is solid and other stuff you add on works well and is used efficiently.

As others are saying...with just a tune alone you won't get much of anything performance wise. Vince can firm up your shifts for you (if you have an automatic) and make it feel more sporty. But unless you are doing headers or something like that...don't bother.

No hp gain cnj.....nope no point to buy a tune with just that. Though, if you want a stronger feeling car then you will want what Vince has to offer. My car is a whole different animal with the tune, that's even before I put the LTs on.
