That's awesome! The silhouette of that car is a mold for many sporty or race cars when I was a kid. Loved the shape of that car and never actually knew it was modeled after an actual car. I became a Ferrari nut before I even knew what that was.

"The Ferrari F40 was born, and 27 years later, it remains one of the greatest super cars of all-time".
I'll never forget the first time I saw one. Friday night in 1990 at the A&W in Milwaukee where all the car guys hung out to strut. Then this pulls in, laps the parking lot and leaves. My gaw was hanging Formula One for the street. Enzo didn't build bracket racers.

The F40 is what I think of when I hear the word Ferrari.

Hard to believe that car came out in 87. Way ahead of it's time.

I have the Car and Driver that reviewed that. "Morning at Maranello" (title teaser "First Drive Ferrari's Fantastic F40!") August 1988, back when I subscribed. OK article by William Jeanes. But I kept the issue all these years because the issue also has a Brock Yates article on Dan Gurney's 1967 victory at Spa, 1967, in the car that is in my sig pic. Hooked on '60s F1 at 16 years old in 1988, lol (nice Volvo ad!)

My Matchbox F40 in Red was my first car addiction. Easily one of my favorite cars ever, and it was only a few years ago I learned how awesome it really was.
