Roto-fab big gulp is out

The new roto-fab big gulp series intake is out. I remember roto-fab talking about this a year or so ago. Its been a long time coming. I just watched a YouTube video where they switched from another 5” to the roto-fab and gained 44 hp first pull. The channel was late model performance. It’s a little expensive at mid $500 for a intake. Wish i new what the old intake was.

In that video, they also installed a freshly ported blower from Kong- moving from the standard port to the new 'X-Port'. They mentioned it quickly in the video.

I am guessing that they were using a JLT before the Roto-Fab.

There is significant power to be had in going to a 5" intake from one of the older 4" or 4.25" intakes for sure.

I have the jlt 5” intake. That’s what i was afraid of. Do you think the x port is worth that much? It picked up 75hp at the end.

I really dont know. I'd suspect that its a combination of things-

25-30hp from the updated porting
20ish hp from the intake

It's also important to remember that they changed the tune and added timing.
Was the ethanol content higher?

There are so many variables here that you cant really cover in a video like that...so I'd guess that if you literally only changed the intake and compensated with fuel, you would maybe find 10-15hp at the most.

I havent seen the 'X-Port', so I dont know what is changed but my stock blower was ported by Kong and they dont touch the runners at all. It is basically a pre-rotor port.

I have a JLT and it isnt exactly the most well made part (as you know). It does flow plenty of air, and the only thing Id say is that the low speed is more difficult to tune as compared to the RPM or Roto-Fab.

Im going to try one of the new intakes this winter when I install the new fuel system, because I just dont care for the JLT. Im also turning up the boost so I wont know how the intake alone will change power.
Also considering a 112TB so who knows.

The larger cold air tube is definitely a difference maker through the entire rpm range. I sent my supercharger to Wilson manifold for porting and have great results, but can some you enlighten me of the gains for the new X-Port that you have mentioned from Kong?

I've never seen any pics of the x-port its like a secret that Greg Kong doesn't want anyone to copy.

This is my experience, I was using the BMR (Black Market Racing) 5" intake and decided to buy the 5" Roto-Fab Big Gulp. My AFR went from 11.90 to 12.75 logging in my Hp Tuners......More Air.
No other changes were made to the vehicle at that time. The only reason I switched was I didn't like how the BMR looked and fitted, was totally surprised at the results.

Yep, I've had one on my car for a few months. I went from the stock throttle body and original Roto-Fab to a 103 and the Big Gulp. I picked up almost a psi of boost in the upper rev range (5500+), and cylinder airmass is higher by about 0.06-0.10 g/cyl. According to my virtual dyno plots, I picked up somewhere in the range of 15-20 rwhp compared to my best historical pulls in the same location. Hard to say how much is the 103 vs the intake. At my power level (690-700), it's likely it's all from the throttle body, but I wanted to throw on the 5" to support future blower and head mods.

Looks like the BMR was made from an Airaid U-Build-It 5" kit to me.

Thats helpful. Thanks for the feedback.

I also assume that tuning the part throttle stuff was as easy as with the original? A lot of these 'off brand' intakes are...challenging in that regard.
