The Corvette has it's own logo is probably the reason the bowtie was not put on it.
iMO, SS LS or Camaro are enough to identify the car and the brand, it doesn't need to be a rolling commercial for Chevy

Brand recognition. Chevrolet is not just going to send out cars with no emblem on them, more recognition = more sales, like the second post said. You have the option to take the rear one off really easily, and heritage grille or bowtie delete cover takes car of the one in front. I prefer to have the badge on the car - it looks naked without it to me

You've never had people ask you if your car was a Mustang/Challenger?

Not that I don't like the bow-tie, but if I remember correctly, I don't think chevy put a bow-tie on the first gen camaro (maybe they did?)...just took mine off and put on ss badges for that reason.

Not yet but I'm sure it's going to happen, I guess that's when I'll proudly say it's a Chevy

Good point, you are correct, my 71 did not have Bowties on the exterior either

I hate the bowties that's why they are gone, but I do keep all the original parts I have taken off the car..

You have to give some credit to Ford for not plastering their fugly logo all over the Mustang!!
I had mine painted to match my body color.

Look closer.

Below the first emblem is the only emblem not to have the bowtie and fleur-de-lis in it IIRC. (Check that, the 100th anniversary has "100" in place of the fleur-de-lis. But still has a bowtie on the flag).

Right before the January 1953 Corvette introduction, it was noted it was against the law to use the American flag on logos, so they came up with a nod to Louis Chevrolet's heritage with the fleur-de-lis and popped that as well as the bowtie on the replacement flagged logo. You can find this emblem residing at the Corvette museum in Bowling Green, KY.

Revised emblem:
