I drove an SS '17 rental about a year before I got my '13 1LE. I was NOT impressed by any aspect of it. The 6 doesn't look like a Camaro, it doesn't sound like a Camaro (speaking of factory exhaust, of course) and the interior is awful in its layout and execution vs. the Gen. 5.
The one styling detail I don't mind is the current tail light design with the oval LED lenses--as displayed in the pic. here above. I think it is a nod to both the 5th Gen. tail lights as well as the Gen 2 -70-'73 tail lights. Other than that one detail-- you can KEEP IT!

True The 5th gen is old school. To me the 6th gen looks great but has a
new modern ho hum look.

Although I do not like how the '19 front end looks at all, I rented one while i was in florida earlier this year. It was an auto with the 10 speed so my buddy could drive it too, I would have gotten the manual preferably but I was actually impressed. The 10 speed shifts so fast and smooth you dont even feel it at all. From a performance aspect I love it personally. Id love to drive a manual to see how it compares to it and my '12 SS. I only have bolt ons and a tune but its still such a fun car.

So Do the say this about the 1st Gen’s ??

Nothing compares to their 6th gens in their eyes. Funny tho...I think the only fans that car has is on Camaro 6. The rest of the world gives zero shits about it...its tanking large now and the future doesnt look great. I dont mind it myself but it wont be replacing my 5th gen....GMs last true muscle car.

Personally the look of the Gen 5 beats the look and performance upgrades of the Gen 6.

I own both and I would prefer to drive my 5th gen over my 6th gen based on how much more room I have, but with a 6th gen you just get a much nicer and newer interior, I like my 5th gen exterior more especially once I get everything install. But I drove an ss 5th gen and compared to my 6th gen. There's a noticeable difference on how much faster the 6th gen is, also a noticeable difference in price as well. You can't go wrong with ether one. Completely your choice. I say get both

My Z/28, friend of the neighbors recently purchased ZL1. I like his car but I LOVE my Gen 5 styling. If I was in the market for a brand new ride I'd go Gen 6 over Ford or Fiat (Mopar) but I'm glad I have what I have.

I have to admit the 6th gen body style isn’t the killer for me, it’s the direct injection that talked me out of owning one. Don't get me wrong, direct injection is much better for fuel economy and more efficient at producing power, but in my experience, it’s also better at eating up your spare time with added maintenance or turning your car into a lawn ornament. Top end reliability suffers from the filth that builds up on the back side of the valves. I can’t fault anyone for jumping into a 6th gen, they’re quick and nimble, and although I do prefer the 5th gen’s looks, I think the 6th is still a nice looking car. I just don’t want a weekend fun car that requires the extra maintenance that DI brings with it. I think my next fun car is going to be a 2008-up (LS3) C6. Seems like a great build foundation for the money spent and is lighter than any 5th or 6th gen Camaro. Whatever I end up doing, I’ll be keeping the 5th gen.

nah, I have to defend the 3rd gen here. The gen3 sold more in '84 alone that the gen 6 may ever sell in it's life span. However the 3rd gen sales over 10 years was historic. Was the performance great, no. Was it better than the gen1 or gen2 hard to argue that. But you cannot argue with the huge sales numbers, and coolness factor of the IROC, T-Tops, and the look that defined the muscle car era of the 80's.
