Servicing coolant in seven year old SS....
I just bought a 2012 SS that had been sitting for a long time. The engine only has 19K miles. I've already changed the oil but I'm wondering if I should have the coolant system serviced as well?

My 2010 SS has the original coolant (187,878 miles). I know, before the flaming begins, I'm a bad person!
I figure I'll change it the first I have to replace a hose or a water pump.

I can only imagine what the inside of your cooling system looks like with that old Dexcool in it. Yikes!

$15 for Dexcool concentrate at my local Chevy dealer and 2 gallons of distilled water. Just drain the radiator and refill. The siphoning action also pulled quite a bit out of my block and overflow tank as well. It was super easy.

As a mechanic I never change coolant on any of my cars unless I'm fixing a leak! You'll be fine as clearly indicated by the high mileage
