With the updated forecast for this weekend looking like a typical rain, er I mean race weekend of late, we wanted to reach out to those clubs that had planned on attending –



This weekend, proceeds are to support JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation ) in their search to end type 1 diabetes for children. Last year, mother nature didn’t cooperate at JDRF’s expense –



We realize the less than favorable forecast may put many club owners on the fence about driving down for Opening Weekend – so we would like to sweeten your deal:



Any car club member that attends the weekend and pays for a lap around the track will receive a voucher for ONE free Thunder Road Tour ( 3 laps ) that can be redeemed anytime this year per our track schedule. I know many of you plan group visits to the track for this later in the year – for your support this weekend for a great cause, we would like to say thank you.

If it makes you feel a little bit better (probably won't), I had eye surgery 2 weeks ago so my new 5.0 has been just sitting.

So my 88 yr old dad carts me around on errands in his Kia, while my 412 hp Pony gathers dust.

I had a retinal tear, so I can drive for limited time/distance. Then I start getting headaches. Glare from sun is not good, and driving at night is out. Real busy traffic is an issue because my R eye is still blurry and depth perception is off.

Dr. won't give me a specific time for healing, because 3 days after the surgery I blew a micro blood vessel in the eye (which netted me a ride in an ambulance and my first ever dose of morphine at the ER!).

Hmm. Where did I put that leftover Hydrocodone ...
