Need a new look, what should i do?????
My SS needs a paint job, these Ohio roads have been tearing it up all over on the bumper and side flares and rockers and even got some small hood chips (don't know how some of them even managed to get there). its not THAT BAD, but its bad enough to bother the heck out of me every time I wash and detail it. I have a minor case of OCD...
my question to everyone is what should I do, re paint it, dip it, or wrap it. taking into consideration price differences, quality of the look, dependability, ease of upkeep, lifespan, and anything else that anybody can think of that matters. My car is my baby and I take care of it as much as I can, but I bought it to drive it so its not a garage keeper. It goes in the garage between October and March but when the weather turns it becomes my daily driver so it gets its share of everything kicked up from these Ohio roads. what should I do here? |

If you drive the same roads, won't your new paintjob just get messed up again anyways? lol

If this is going to be a recurring issue, regardless of which route you take, I'd give serious consideration to installing 'invisible mask'.

Repaint and wrap the car in Xpel paint protection film. And never worry again

well that's why I wasn't sure if there was a better alternative than painting it again, like maybe wrapping or dipping can act as a better guard against those elements or if just repainting and putting that clear film on is a better option

Xpel is much much better. Self healing. Hides swirls. And a good deal thicker. I have my entire front. Headlights. Tailights. Fenders. Mirrors. All done in Xpel ultimate. And my hood is done in the Xpel stealth (matte tint) really looks good over the matte vinyl hood wrap. But now they have the black Xpel film the just came out with and we are going to do the hood in that. Take off the stock vinyl and just lay the black Xpel on the hood.

Front clear bra can be installed for about $300 here and used to be much more spendy, you just have to find the right window tint shop. I would get Dr.Color chip touch it up and touch up paint from the dealer (thinner helps clean up edges) if needed and then some RPI stealth mud guards. Both I have and they do really help. The thing to do would clean it touch it up and then clear bra if its not a real road rash victim that cannot even get by with a new film finish over it shining. Actually it may make the touchups look better ..? It should hide them more.
But its hard to judge ones OCD road rash compared to anothers with no PIC! LOL
