I use Max Gear from Royal Purple 75x140. It already has the conditioners in it.
I think I will change mine this weekend. Mine is a little harder because my exhaust pipe is in the way of the drain.

Like my car has a JRE posi mod LSD (basically just a higher preload spring and different clutches) and JRE specifies 2 bottles of limited slip additive and 1 quart of gear oil and it's super grabby if you don't use the extra additive. So if I did gear oil first I definitely wouldn't be able to get 2 bottles of additive in.


Might be the only scenario where it matters but on the off chance you couldn't get all of one bottle in I'd rather have all the limited slip additive. Losing "some" of 32oz vs losing "some" of 4oz is a vastly different percentage ya know.

Chevy owners manual recommends SAE 75w-90 lubricant for the differential, in my 2012 manual, and the 2015 manual for V-6 autos thru ZL1 and the Z28. Recommended for all models of the 2015 Camaro, rear differential lubricant.

You can easily verify this info by googling "2015 camaro owners manual". Section 11-12.

75w-140 has a greater viscosity range and is a heavier lubricant.

I used a pump overflowed it out the top. If you did that I assume you have a bunch more to do. Have fun with the coils.

I messed up and only bought one quart of Royal purple. Filled diff and it didn't start spilling out. I can feel it when I stick my finger in strait almost to the bottom of fill hole. I ordered a second bottle but I have to go to work tomorrow like 80 miles round trip. It should be ok to drive for a day shouldn't it?

It should be fine for normal driving for a time. I read through this too and only saw one reference to Amsoil for capacities. Anyone use their gear oil on the Camaro? I used it in the past on other LSD’s with NO LS addictive with great results. Probably will again.

I just want to contribute to this thread. I bought my 2014 SS with 48,000 miles. One of the first things I did was drain the diff after reading the owners manual recommended interval of 50k. I couldn’t believe what came out. Nasty, gray/black stinky dirty fluid. The magnetic drain bolt was covered in a thick gray paint like slime. I filled it first with the additive (to make sure I got it all in first) then with OE GM fluid.
I was SO glad I changed that fluid and will probably do so again at 75k.

Use the smaller bottle to then put the last few ounces into the diff until the diff is full. Took me about 3 times to fill up the small bottle and then squeeze it into the diff - but the diff is now full.

That’s how I got all of mine in as well....transfer the last bit to the small additive bottle and continue filling from there.
