I just thought of another issue with having a fest in Northern Canada: black flies.

That would essentially rule out a late spring/early summer fest way up north. Their populations thin out later in the summer though.

Because apparently the legal federal definition of milk doesn't matter in federal court anymore.

Wait, what?

Isn't the only definition of milk some version of 'mammalian lactic secretions.', or the process by which those secretions are obtained?

Who the hell decreed that its not milk if it doesn't have vitamins added to it and why did anyone ever go along with it? Its still milk. Call the stuff with vitamins added fortified milk or something if you want, but milk without vitamins is still fcuking milk.

No. There's a federal standard of identity for a lot of food products that very specifically outlines the definition of a product. For fluid milk, one of the attributes is the presence of vitamins like A or D. That's why you see stuff marketed as "Vitamin D whole milk," because the FDA requires vitamins to be added back into the milk after the separation process to replace what was lost.

I looked it up and saw that the Canadian definition of milk is similar:
Quote:
B.08.003 [S]. Milk or Whole Milk
  • (a) shall be the normal lacteal secretion obtained from the mammary gland of the cow, genus Bos; and
  • (b) shall contain added vitamin D in such an amount that a reasonable daily intake of the milk contains not less than 300 International Units and not more than 400 International Units of vitamin D.
But at least they consulted with Canadians in 2010 and found that consumer understanding of what 'milk' is is broader than their definition. So there's that.

The FDA hasn't done anything like that yet.

In any case, we believe we're simply following the law by enforcing that vitamin addition rule (which every other milk plant in the state complies with, by the way). The first district court agreed. The appeals court didn't.

After the many years of the bills starting strong and then falling flat, you would think you would have learned by now. Matt Moore going to take the afc east

But the Bills building in a nice way. I wish they'd put Peterman in and see what he can do. As long as they win games they'll keep running Tyrod out there.
