Street Supercharger
Which do you think is the best type of supercharger for a street car? Centrifugal (ProCharger) or Screw (Whipple)?

All are considered street friendly… I’m biased towards a centri setup.

centri, its just simpler plug and play. Then when you do things like add meth or run spray its easier to set that up too. If i didnt have my single turbo kit i'd probably get an ECS kit.

30k + on my whipple and if the tune is good you dont even know its there unless you get on it.
appears to be solid as i have bounced it off the rev limiter several times with no issues. As for maintenance, plugs at 20k and belt at 28k. The torque is great from 2k rpm up. |

They all work great for daily but I would go screw type. There is a reason why car companies add them to factory builds.

There’s a reason for turbos also.

I would say it depends on your goals. Sub 700-750whp a screw blower is pretty hard to beat. Once your goals are 800whp+ I think you're better off with either a Centrifugal or a Turbo setup.

Screw superchargers give instant torq. Which I think is better for the street.

Instant torque is hard to put to the ground on the street, but they do very well at the track.

I was having trouble with this until i switched to adjustable rear shocks. What a difference. i can dial in anywhere from 1st gear acting like in a rains storm and having to pedal to full hookup.

There will always be a debate and people will defend what they have.
Totally unbiased professional opinion, Whipple or Magnuson supercharger is best suited for set it and forget it bolt on power. A lower HP PD blower will feel faster than a higher powered Centri, due to Boost Curves. So from the drivers seat driving back to back SC Gen 5 camaros, the PD will always be more impressive. Ted.

Id start by scouring the classifieds here. Keep an open mind and be ready when something you like pops up. These guys change their setups like their underwear.
Whatever you wind up with, when you upgrade Injector size and pump capacity go big enough to do flex fuel. You'll be able to run 93 or e85 and make safer power. With a good tune of course.

Centrifugal superchargers are probably the easiest to manage on the street from a traction perspective as boost is linear.

We have several around here with PD Blowers and Pro Chargers, a couple from Hutter Performance equally matched with both PD and Centri blowers, I agree with you 100% without a doubt on a small tire car on the street the Pro charged cars hook better due to the torque curve every time and really bring it on the big end.
